AWR Oil Pan Fitment Issues - Pics!

Did a test-fit of the new motor tonight, and my AWR pan is hitting that main suspension piece on the back of the engine. You can see where it's cut out to clear, but it's not. Anyone else having this problem? Defective pan maybe?

that's weird...there shouldn't be anything in the way, what comes to mind is...I think because the pan is normally installed when the motor is still in (from bottom). Did you try tilting the motor abit....cause the pan would be slightly under what it's hitting now...no? Is your motor actually sitting on the motor mounts in that picture? Ah what do I know!

Mine did the same thing. I didn't even worry about it with my stiff motor mounts. Just leave that rubber mount so it doesn't dent the pan.

Are all your motormounts in? Is there any slop in the mount holes so you can tilt the bottom of the motor forward? My AWR pan has about 10 mm clearance to that part.

definatly agree. I installed Rouge's AWR oil pan and noticed that the pan sit almost right on that rubber piece. That rubber combined with the AWR mounts hasnt caused any problem on his car yet. I would not suggest any body buy this pan though unless they do have the mounts in place

My AWR pan is almost touching the rubber on the frame as well.... I could probably fit a few sheets of paper between the pan and the rubber on the frame. I have motor mounts as well and havent noticed any problems, but the pans only been on for a week.

Well in the pics all the mounts are tight, and I'm using the AWR 95 durometer front and rear, and the side inserts. This engine isn't gonna move very much at all. But even still, it shouldn't touch that piece. For you guys that it does touch, noticed any ill effects?

I'm in the same boat. I have awr mount all the way around. I used a jack when installing the passenger mount to make sure the mount was dead center with the block and frame. This barely helped but seemed to me the only way to ensure a clean install. I can't help but think under heavy driving the frame will be slamming up against the pan. Not sure yet as I've only logged 4-5 miles on the new motor.

Leaking on the other hand, that a whole other story (huh)

So I'm thinking what I might do is take off that cap, and lop that end section off by about 1/4" or so, just short of that weld, then re-install that cap. Should work, right?

I wouldn't do that. It seems that there is less clearance for the P5 than the msp I think. But if you have all of the mounts I wouldn't even worry about it. It won't move and that rubber pieces acts as a cushion. I had mine on for about 4-5 months and when I took it off there were no dents at all.

How does your pan fit?

I only have the front AWR mount and I have about a good 1/4 to 1/2 inch clearance. Maybe the P5 is different.

My pan seemed to have pretty good clearance... it was tight but it cleared.

I took the cap off and then it was ok, but a better solution would be to take 1/4" off the oil pan from the design for sure. I dunno if anyone has ever mentioned it to AWR or not I know I didn't.

Found this pic of one of the original AWR pans. As you can see, no cutout on it...

So only the P5's have that or what?
