AWR Mount for DD?

No, I'm supposed to have the 70. And my vibration is pretty violent, like all the mirrors shake so much everything is a blur in them. Was your mount really tight to install?

my install went pretty easy except for be breaking the threads on the actual bracket on the motor, I'm a dumb ass sometimes. just got both bolts in lightly threaded, and then tightened everything down, the second bolt is always going to be tricky though, because you have to move the engine to align the bolt hole. As far as it being "tight" i guess it sort of was, i just put the bolts in a little, then aligned up the holes until they slid right in, threaded a bit, then repeated for the second bolt. If you have to force it the entire way your holes probably aren't aligned.

Getting the bolt through once I had the mount in place was not hard. Getting the mount into a position I could put the bolt through was really hard. It took 10 straight minutes of wiggling and persuading with a rubber mallet to finally get it in far enough to pass the bolt through on the transmission side. The subframe side needed a little persuading too, but not nearly as much, 5 minutes of work.

My theory here is while AWR's design and metal work are quite nice, their polyurethane castings have some consistency problems. Mine seems a bit on the wide side and the tight fit is transferring a lot more vibration to the frame than it's supposed to. This in my mind seems to explain why some people seem to love this, and others can't stand it. I mean some people can tolerate more than others, but my whole car is vibrating every time I pick the revs up off idle. There's no way you could be in my car and claim "it's just a little more vibration than stock."

Now that I have George's mount, I can agree that this is not a 'bit more than stock'. It's significant until about 2500 rpm. Like rattles the car enough for people outside the car to hear it loud. Not sure if he got the 88 or 95, but this thing is MUCH stiffer than the 75duro Mazda Comp mounts I'm running in the Miata. I can already tell this is going to be awesome when autocrossing this weekend, but not a chance in hell of running it for a DD.

hm, very interesting hypothesis on the inconsistency thing, that would actually explain a lot. that could also explain why some people have a lot more trouble installing it than others.

I'm sorry that you're having the same trouble. I swear it's the 70A mount unless Good Win Racing sent me a firmer one. They said you had to request specially something firmer, and I didn't. Do you also get the engine resonance between 3K-4K?

They might have sent you an 88.... All the symptoms your having I am. Is there a way to tell which one you have just by looking at the mount or do we just have to trust the inventory paper that comes with it?

And yea for autox its awesome... but to mix with daily its not so awesome lol.

I get resonance all the way up to redline, on and off at certain RPM; the worst is just above idle. I also knew what I was getting into so don't feel bad. I bought it especially for AutoX, so I don't mind the NVH. I'll probably order some goop and fill in my stock mount for DD and swap it in before I drop the car into storage. It's an easy part to swap in and out, so putting it in the day before a race really isn't a big deal.

If anyone is still thinking about grabbing a 70 mount, pm me. I just took one off my 2 since it's being traded tomorrow and now have quite a few extra parts
