I'd think lifetime. Just need a K&N charger kit to keep it going. I did it at 25k miles..."but they say, the dirtier the better" But I think that's to a point. They reccomend every 50k miles or so unless you drive in dusty, dirty conditions, then more often...
mine was relatively clean after 25k when I did do it.
