so im installing an autometer boost gauge, and im doing fine right up until the point where i have to take off the dash. what exactly am i supposed to be pulling on? im terrified of doing the wrong thing and breaking my dash. any pictures or detailed descriptions would be appreciated.

What? whay are you removing your dash? I have the boost gauge and an a/f gauge on the pilar. just get a pilar pod.

Yeah that's what I'm trying to figure out. Once that's settled I'm going to move this thread to the Appearance forum. Installing a gauge is not specific to the MSP.

hmm well then can anyone tell me how im supposed to wire the lights for the gauge and the vac hose down to the engine??? b/c i thought i had to take off the dash to do so. i already have it installed in a pillar pod.

thanks

run the vac
hose beside the dash under it, I used a flat screw driver to help tuck the hose thruthe side of the dash so it can't be seen then there is a hole under the dash where the wire harness runs thru. tape it up and the hose so it is less likely to cut the hose. from this hole you can run the vac to the gauge by tapping a vac in the intake

Get on your back, and look northwest of the clutch. See where that yellow wire goes? Go there. It comes out in the engine bay as shown in the pics. You can also route it through that grommet from the engine bay side (I used a bicycle spoke b/c the end ius rounded and won't poke into things, but a carefully bent coathanger works too). In the pic, look down under the wiper motor - see where that red wire goes through?

And no, the red wire doesn't change to yellow, it's not a magic grommet.

From the pillar, stick the hoses/wires down 'tween the dash and the nearest other body panel, protecting them from abrasion somehow (a wrap of electrical tape works) and fish 'em out while on yer back with yer head under the dash...
