Left the lights on last night on my 2014 CX-5 Touring and I am now waiting for a jump start. I have had automatic lights for the past 8 years and continually forget to turn the lights on and now off. I'm sure this won't be the last time that I forget to turn them off, luckily it wasnt during the week right before going to work. Does anyone know of a aftermarket kit that would automatically turn headlights off when the iginition is turned off? I called my dealership and he quoted me $3500 for them to convert to automatic lights.

I'm confused. I thought all CX-5s were equiped with auto off lights and that auto ON/OFF was an option. From page 4-40 of the owners manual:
NOTE
l If the light switch is left on, the lights will automatically switch off (if equipped) approximately 30
seconds after switching the ignition off.
The time setting can be changed.
Refer to Personalization Features on page 9-9.
Am I missing something here?

I for sure know that at least on the GT it has auto on/off and I was under the impression that all trims do have them for the 2013.
On my 2014 w/out Tech package, I have to turn the head lights on and off. The dealer told me its only available with the tech option. If I was told about the auto on/off before purchasing I would have moved up to the GT or tech option to my touring.

Just checked my bare-bones 2013 Touring and it does have the auto off feature like I thought (not auto on/off!) I verified by turning my lights on, killing the engine and 30 seconds later the lights turned themselves off.
You have to have the tech package on the 2014's for auto on/off headlights.
Yes Lotto, but I think he is pointing why would your battery die since it does turn it off automatically but not on automatically.
Thanks for clarifying that JohnJr. But as pointed out above the manual says if equiped and mine is not equiped to turn the headlights off after 30 seconds. I looked in the manual and tested this before posting this.
I've never had a Issue with leaving my lights on after turning off my 2013 CX 5 Touring. My lights automatically turn off. Check your setting by:
Turning on your car, click the setup button on your radio and choose vehicle, and adjust your settings.

I don't know if I have ever left my lights on and it turned off after a while. I always leave my settings to the AUTO settings. That's weird that it is a tech package option for the 2014. I don't have the tech package installed btw.
Same here. Basic 2013 Sport. My headlights shutoff automatically. I actually leave the switch on almost all the time.
Ditto. CX-9 owner here. I was very bummed to be getting only "auto off" after years of cheap Toyotas with auto on/off. Then I realized that I do have auto on/off - I just leave them on all the time. The only downside is that some of the displays are a little dim, but still readable, so I plan to continue this practice indefinitely.
