Looking into getting some durable ultra-lightweight wheels for autocrossing this summer that also looks good. Looking into 18x7.5 and 17x7.5. I am also interested in what tire size and if you have noticed if it was easier to find good autocross tires in one diameter or the other.

If there are any autocrossers out there that have suggestions and experiances with wheels i would love to hear your story.

Thanks Guys.

Looking into stu which I think I am going to be burned by the subies or dsp. Leaning towards dsp. I can't go back to d stock with my coil overs.

i took a grinder to the hubs of a set of old supra wheels, 16x7.5, and ran kumho 710s. the wheels were like $100 for the set of 4, and the 16" 710;s were least expensive ones i have ever bought. still had trouble getting power to the ground coming out of turns, but my suspension is bone stock. rolled the rear fenders to get 225s on. i was also able to get decent used slicks for track days from john berget...

That's interesting. What class were you running? Do you think larger tires would have solved your traction issue? Or was suspension the main factor in that?

i have just run open class with nccc when i had the engine out of the corvette, no scca with the mazda, and some track days. i'm going to try some evo wheels, get another 1" of rubber out there. but i am thinking coilovers and bars would help a lot to keep the front planted on turn exits.
