I don't know if any of you guys have tried autocrossing your cars yet but the Speed 6 is a really capable car in a sea of cones. My grandson used mine in the BMW CCA Street Survival School a couple of weeks ago. This is a great School and kind of hard to get into due to the limited class size and number of venues. Due to his willingness and apptiude, his instructor who is an accomplished SCCA AutoX'r turned it into a racing school for him. By the end of the day for his graduation excercise he put on quite a show for the other students and parents with me riding along.

I autocross a prep'd corvette, but I think next time I'm going to let him use my Mazda and then run in the Mazda against him. He'll probably beat me, youthfull reaction times.

Anyhoo, the front tyres are now on the back and the whole set will need replacing soon. I have 12000 miles. The weekend took about 10K off the front tires.

BTW, They have a maximum braking exercise. All day long they would revisit this box and hold the car on max boost longer and go deeper into and past the point where you were supposed to nail the brake pedal. There was a dry and a wet box. The instructor and I were AMAZED by the brakes, I think this out brakes my vette.

Welcome hardlight! Thanks for sharing the pics and your thoughts. I like the pic of the water/powerslide the best. AutoX looks like a blast! I've never done it but it's probably harder than it looks.

hey sweet, from Missouri...speed6s on MO on the forum is kinda rare :)

Your car looks sick Autoxing, I saved some picks :)

Great photos! I autox'd the MS6 at Zoom Zoom Live a year ago. I'm no competitor but it convinced me to buy the car. I waited patiently for the price to go down and picked up a 2006 model in March for a great price.

Ya! I ran the Timed Gymkhana at ZZL, both in the MX5 and the MSP6. I think it was the exact same course both years and I ran the MSP6 faster. I'm a veteran auto-x'r, used to run a stock MZ3 and recently ran the MSP6 in Mn. Surprising how fast they are in competition! You will go thru tires, about a set a year. For the fun and increased driving skill, it's well worth it IMO.

Just an update. A stock MS6 on worn down original tires can kick azz.....Boywonder entered the SCCA last event of the season so he would qualify for the end of the season Solo Index Team Challenge event. The team he got assigned to thought they were probably screwed, with a 16 yr old in his second event in a Madzaspeed6 (whattheheckizthat) on street tires. The track announcer called him the Mystery Driver most of the day. His raw times kept coming down and he was running clean, he was faster on street tires than some of the WRX'x on race rubber. Our team are the ST LOUIS 2007 SCCA Solo Index Team Champions(drive2)

actually it does outbrake a Vette. Mazda touted this back when the ms6 came out. The only vette to outbrake it was the z06
