you said exactly what is all about...having fun. I am gonna get killed in DSP kause i do not have r-compounds but i have a s*** load of fun doing it and learning. and you do not have to technically be in lukes class until after your second time in novice so i wouldnt worry about it. BTW dl the rule book on solo atlanta and check to make sure what class you will eventually end up in i am not positive about u being in FSP you may fit into a ST class.

On another note i may be running this event if i can find some 16" tires as i procured a set of 16" camry steelies today. (hump)

i've been reading the rule book for a while. im kinda lost. oh well, will they put me in a class, or do i have to pick. me and luke have about the same mods, but he has a header, rear motor mounts, and wheels.

well there is a large difference since you have mazdaspeed suspension it would fall under the update/backdate rule. and you will eventually have to pick your own class.

ok well i was just reading up on the rules and as long as you have the original emmisions equipment i belive u fit into the STS category

You'd be in STS, once you lose a cat you move to STX if you still have at least one, or FSP if you go catless.

dammit.. Why do I always get Atlanta Motor Speedway confused with Road Atlanta?

Because you're dying to pull a Dale Earnhardt in turn 3 and test your airbag?

Got my cousin's wedding in Florida that weekend (yupnope) won't be there. (mswerd)

have fun guys.

You're not allowed to post in the race threads anymore. You always have some wedding or party to go to. I think you're scurred.

Anyway, what Wayne said as far as classification. You'd also be legal in FSP, but probably not competitive on street tires. However, it's probably best that you stick with street tires until you are comfortable driving on them. Once comfortable and willing, move to R's. Learning to drive on streets is THE best practice for a novice. I wish I had started out that way.

Mike, just run in Time Only Morning (TO1) and Time Only Afternoon (TO2). That's 8 runs....lots of seat time.

But these wedding/engagement things are fun. I usually get to hook up. It's like a weird time warp, like college or something. I have this weird feeling I might even get laid on my own wedding night, whenever that might be.

Well, has that proven itself yet? Bring some of these "hotties" to the race. Show them how to handle a machine and they'll be butta in your hands. If you don't, I will. Ha! I wish.

Dru and I are registered. I'll be there for sure, we'll have to see about her classwork load and what we'll do with the kid. At the non-SCCA 'crosses in VA they did split heats for course workers, so you'd run the first half of the heat, then work the second half, or the other way around. It worked really well for co-driving. Also, which heat you ran in was your choice, so if we were to bring the kid, I could run/work 1st heat, while she hung out with him, and then we could switch. I'm not too sure how we'll work it running/working the same heat at the same time.

We may be bringing the neighbors, who've wanted to try autcross, and who have a baby of their own, so perhaps they'd keep our boy while we raced and we could watch theirs while they race, but we'll see. They've got a bad-ass (400HP-ish) Evo, but would be running Novice as they've never done this before!

Is it legit if I come to spectate? I used to auto-x (it's been awhile) and am toying with the idea of getting back into it and would like to check it out, talk to folks, etc.

Yeah, all you have to do is sign a waiver when you go to the track (just a sig) and you can have front-row seats and ride-alongs, etc
