My time was 11:40am on Saturday. Event time was 1:40pm and 2:40pm. My first run was a 33, second run was 31.2, although somewhat unrelated, a crazy ex-girlfriend called me before I ran my last event, I was so pissed off I dropped 2 seconds off my time. :)

I love autox, it's better than sex, drag racing, guitar, love...I'm so hooked. Already ordered an Eibach prokit and looking for an extra set of rims/tires. :D

There's an SCCA event at the beginning of next month...pretty sure I'm going.(blowup)

Damn, I shoulda went!! I was told about the SCCA event, ill try and make that one too.

If anyone can take me under their wing for an SCCA event, I'd be greatful. I don't really know much about "offical" events. I need a helmet, where can I get one?

31.2? what was the protime at that point? One thing that's kind of annoying about running at GGP - it gets a lot of buildup on course pretty fast - I ran 10:20 & 11:20 & the course slowed a full second between sets.... did a 30.3 on my second run but hit a cone >.< damnit - I think I would have broken 500 too.

I did have the record on the racing line clinic for women's time though :D
Just goes to show I've got sections down... now I just need to manage to string a whole course together and I'll be kicking butt.

Every first sunday of the month we have an event. This month's is pre-empted by the national tour. If you want to see some really fast guys come out this next weekend to GGP, we get people from all over the country and spectators are welcome... its running both saturday and sunday.

Next month they're running a novice school the saturday before the event. I'm not sure if its full yet, but you can e-mail the novice chief to check. 60$ for a full day of 2-1 instruction.

www.houscca.com - houston region website, they have a link to the novice handbook which should give you the basics on what to expect.

We have loaner helmets but if you're set on getting your own(instead of using the stinkie ones - though I helped weed the worst of them after last event) try ProAm downtown (near kartzone & ferrari of houston).

We have a great novice program so don't worry - you'll get taken care of. If you want, come say hi to me - I'm the chick with the yellow MSP in DS.

I noticed alot of dirt/gravel flying around when I was running, I assumed it was like that for everyone. The pro time was around 27 when I went. Most people were at 33-35 second passes. The event names are a bit confusing because I'm not used to SCCA. What events can some random guy with a P5 run in? (first) I looked at the local SCCA site and dont' understand which are "closed" events for legitimate competitors.

Everything is open(note: you *are* a legitimate competitor) - I'm assuming you're not an SCCA member so you can't enter the national tour, but pretty much anything else you can enter. We do have an entry cap on non-members - so its good to reg online early or sign up for SCCA membership.

Besides houston region events we have a couple of other clubs that also host AutoXes nearby. BMW runs down at the police academy once a month and the porsche club hosts a handful of events each year. In both cases you don't have to be a member of the club to run.

For Autocross you are looking at Solo2 events. Houston region does online registration for these at dlbracing.com.

To get started find out what class your car runs in - do you have any mods? If the car is stock it should run HS I think - and register next week for the May event(reg will open for that event this weekend).

When entering I will have intake/exhaust and I have eibach springs in the mail. Not sure what class that is. STS?

Also, looking at the calender on the actual racing site, they have a "Mazda" event next weekend but there isn't a place to sign up for the event and it doesn't say where it is. doh.(confused)

I'm not 100% - intake/exhaust might move you to FSP - hopefully someone with more classing knowledge can double check that one.

I'm guessing you're looking at the rev it up event next weekend in Dallas. So annoying they scheduled that to overlap the national tour.
