2014 Mazda3s GT Hatch, 1999 Miata 10th Anniv Ed
Finally got to thoroughly check out an sGT hatch today at the Auto Show. It was very, very nice and clearly stood out among its competition in my opinion. Will prob downsize from my Outback next year.

I have the sedan and not the hatch, but you won't regret it. They are so much fun to drive! Go have a test drive and you will be completely hooked.

I went to the LA auto show today. Checked out the competition and am glad I didn't get the Forte SX hatch, seating position was too tall and it felt really really tinny, even the front doors when closed sounded tinny, ruining an otherwise great looking car with a nice interior. Veloster Turbo was as claustrauphobic as it was the first time around. The new Mini looked like a Fisher Price kids toy lol and the Juke Nismo RS just seemed too meh. Highlights for me were the Nismo GT-R and Volvo V60.

I went to the LA show today, too. Really liked the 3 in person, especially when directly compared to other cars in its class. I will definitely be test-driving one.

I also loved the Volvo V60 wagon. Perfect size for an upgrade from my Pro5.

So, was Mazda showing anything "new" or "coming soon" at the show? Haven't seen anything on the Auto websites.

What speaks volumes to me about the new Mazda 3 is how they benchmarked BMW's and Audi's for the ride quality and the interior. While their competition is content to just throw more tech gadgets in the interior, get by with ho-hum handling, and benchmarks other direct competitors in the compact car segment. Mazda is benching marking luxury cars and asking themselves how they can get the 3 to as close to a luxury car quality as possible, while keeping it at a econo-car price. And when you see one for yourself and see how nice the interior design and the materials they used, it is impressive. Mazda really not the 3 out of the ballpark. No wonder it is winning all kinds of auto awards.
