Auto P5 hanging onto revs

My auto P5 seems to be hanging on to revs occasionally when I let off the gas. Should I be concerned. I keep up pretty good with maintenance so this is a little unsettling. I let my foot of the gas sometimes and the rpms don't come down. Any advice?

do you maybe have O/D off? My lamp burned out so now the only way i know is by clicking the button and seeing when the revs are down and up lol.

it seems like it just didnt shift, mine does that too form time to time. i just put mine in tiptronic mode, and it goes to fourth, then i put it back in drive. what ive noticed is that if you accelerate just a little bit more and let off, it'll shift up.

+1 mazda was never good with automatics
im having the most problems out of my REBUILT transmission, then ive ever had out of a transmission before

could it maybe be the butterfly in the throttle body sticking? assuming its not the trans.

It would suck much more if my desert runner crazy scary truck was auto than it does for my daily driver P5. Like nobody has any problems with weak shift forks or gears giving up in manuals. Non-mazda trannies FTW would be closer to correct. Like was stated, mazda sucks at trannies-that'd be both manual OR auto OR sport auto (on P5s at least).

Sadly enough I drive an auto P5 as well. Sure wish it was a 5 speed majority of the time (boom07), lol. How much does a tranny swap usually cost to go from an automatic to 5 speed? Just curious.

That happened to me a couple of weeks ago, instead of shifting at 3k like usual, it would shift at 3500rpm. But the next day it was fine, and hasn't happened since.
