auto lights switching to night during day?

:
2012 CX-9 Touring
I have a 2019 CX-5 and recently I've noticed that settings for screen brightness are changing on their own and making the screen really dim during the day. When I look at the settings for some reason it switched to night. I manually change back to the day setting then as I'm driving it will beep then auto change to night in the middle of the day??? I was just trying to reset the screen settings and as I was doing a reset to the system and I noticed that it was making the beeps and changing things I wasn't. Anyone else have this issue and I have a bad feeling any fix will be an expensive one.

Possibly two different issues. Have you had the windshield replaced? I’m wondering if the rain/light sensor on the windshield fell off. That caused my mother in laws ‘18 to dim the displays during the day. You can override this setting in the infotainment by choosing day instead of automatic.

The other issue of settings being chosen without your input could be the ghost screen issue. That would require replacement of the center display to fix it. There’s a class action settlement pending for that issue that will extend your warranty, but I’m not sure of the details or how to get resolution until the case is settled. A dealership might be able to provide more info.

For now I’d try to confirm if the rain/light sensor is adhered completely to your windshield. Check out my experience with this issue here Auto Headlights always on, light/rain sensor failure? 2018 CX-5, post 22 has a picture of the sensor on the windshield. If you look really closely only half was sticking after I tried fixing the problem. I solved the light dimming issue but that half fix didn’t resolve the auto wiper problem.
