Honestly, I have a clean record with one speeding ticket under 10 mph 4 years ago. I had Progressive, then Geico, then back to Progressive, all only saving me a couple bucks than before. Finally I walked in to a State Farm office, and they about fell over when I told them how much I was paying at progressive and the coverage I was getting.

State Farm $1400/year w/ $250 deductible
Full Coverage (Comp+Coll) MAX Coverage 100,000/100,000
Includes all the goodies like rental, medical, property, roadsied asst, etc...

**Note** You get a decent discount from them for things like:

Good Student (Which I'm not a student anymore, so I don't get this!)
Alarm (depends on the kind)
Multiple Drivers (In Your Household......BUT it depends on their record!!!)
Multiple Policies (I have renters ins. through them and it cuts down my auto ins.)
etc.....

it costs my wife and i a little over $1100 for both of our cars through allstate (my p5 and her '04 civic)

that is full coverage with a $500 collision deductible and $50 comprehensive deductible. we also have renters insurance through them which costs $130 per year for $30,000 coverage.

Progressive for MSP- $1800/6 mos 500/500. On my Focus I was paying $2000/6 mos at American Family. Both were with 3 tickets on file that drops Dec 04. Can't wait.

I just turned 21 so I should get a litle drop and plus my 6 mos policy is ending so now I am shopping around for a better quote.

22, Male, Multiple car discount, no tickets. All done through USAA

-6 Month rates

1994 Civic DX, Liability - $406

2004 Protege 5, Full coverage - $915

2000 Civic Si, Full coverage - $960

1999 Mustang GT, Full coverage - $1,083

1997 Honda Prelude, Full coverage - $1,114

Progressive 1020/6month 500 decs and full coverage
1 accident
1 ticket which I think is all that is on record

Total tickets so far 4-5 I think, kinda of lost count.

Plus in the NOVA area they supposely raised rates across the board due to the insane number of accidents everyday. People here are nuts.

State Farm here $840 every 6 months. Collision is $1000 and comprehensive is $250. Lets just say it's been broken into 3 times. :( Full Coverage

(mswerd) Here, here! GEICO sucks! (rant) (rant) (rant) (rant)

Got a story for you all...

When I bought my P5, I called GEICO the next day to say I had traded cars. They told me that I was going to have to have the vehicle inspected before my collision coverage would be valid.

So, I asked them, "What happens if a 74 Continental with no insurance runs me off the road on the way to get my vehicle inspected?"

Their reply, "Sorry, sir, but you wouldn't be covered."

I hung up the phone and switched to Progressive on the spot -- no inspection required and I saved $300 per year, too.
