Audio (sound) level question

Hey Folks,

First post!

The wife and I bought a 2010 cx-9 and love it (should have gotten the AWD, but it never snowed here until this year, sigh) but i do have some questions.

Most answers i have found in the owners manual, but I can't find any information on how to turn down the volume the "BONG!" noise the audio system makes when the phone rings or if you switch to bluetooth.

It is so loud, it wakes up our 6 month old, one of the main reasons we got the cx-9!

Does anyone know what I am talking about? All I can find to turn down is the navigation lady's voice.

we have the grand touring with the navigation system. ANY help would be great! Thanks and I look forward to contributing in the future!

Could it be your phone? Try another phone of a different brand. Borrow one if you have to. Pair it, make a call, and then, delete it from pairing.

I don't have such problem with my 2008 GT AWD.

There is a BEEP when you press/hold the Phone command button which indicates the system is LISTENING for your voice command. I wouldn't call it a BONG, but maybe they changed the tone in the newer models.

I think it's somewhere between a beep and a bong, but it is loud in mine as well. Don't know if you can adjust the volume on that though. Would be interested in finding out though.

We had the same problem. So far our solution has been as follows:

1. There are different volumes (and their levels) that co-exist in the CX-9. The stereo, the Nav, and the bluetooth handsfree.

2. I am not sure if the bluetooth handsfree robo-voice and the actual call volume are the same or separate (still determining)

3. Our solution was to adjust the bluetooth robo-voice volume while it is talking and leave it at that level.

This has so far solved our problem.

Hope it works for you!

thanks for the responses. It's not so much the voice as the initial bing/bong.

I would equate it to setting the "system sound levels" in windows, or a computer. I just can't find where to set it.

How did you adjust the bluetooth voice while it was talking?

I actually just ran across the 3 different sound levels today for the first time. The bluetooth connection to my phone would have no sound during system commands or calls but the radio worked and so did the NAV system. Volume were fine on that.

Only during the call when I was supposedly "connected" according to my phone, did I fiddle with the volume button only to hear that it was turned down..even though the radio played just fine! I was about to call the dealer and setup service.

You learn something new everyday!

Okay, i think i have figured out how to lower this sound. If you go to Menu and click on Set volume or something similar on that initial screen and set it lower. This setting controls the volume for the navigation voice guidance at least and it did lower the binging bonging noise after i set it lower.

The Bluetooth volume needs to be set to around 12-15 (Loud) to be loud enough to hear the other persons voice on the phone but needs to be set to (4-8) to be quiet enough for the computer voice to not be deafining.

Best I do is turn the volume down when I'm ending any phone call on bluetooth, it's not a great solution but it does work.
