Audio Question from an Almost New Guy

Again, seeing as how I don't have my MS3 yet, I can't officially call myself a new guy. However, while waiting in Iraq for my redeployment, I am planning away at how I'm going to dress up my new car. Here are some audio questions (and I really have to beg indulgence on this, I looked, but what I found was either greek to me or non-existant).

The MS3 comes with an Aux in for MP3 players, but I'd like to use my iPod AND have the luxury of both seeing the song info and control it from the steering wheel. Is this possible?

I have an amp and subwoofer in my garage (brand slips my mind, but it's more for my ears and less to impress anyone). Is there RCA-out plugs in the car? Or do I need to splice into existing speaker wire with the little box I have? If so, which wires would be best spliced in to.

I plan on getting the Tech package so it will have the Bose stuff included. Thanks for any recommendations you guys can float my way.

Cheers,

James

I will try to help you the best I can.

You can buy the iPod kit for the mazda 3. What you do is take the radio out and plug the iPod kit in the back, run it to where you want the iPod. I am assuming, you can see song names and everything on the console screen and I know for fact you can control through the steering wheel.

The stock radio does not have RCA plugs. I am not sure of the answer as far as splicing goes.

Good luck and thank you for serving for our country!

I am in the same boat i just sold my p5 and was wanting to get a speed3 but my question is can you hook up a sub and amp to the stock head unit or do i have to go aftermarket to get the sub to work? Thanks for your time and also Thank You Chief Smo for doing an amazing job serving this great country!

You can install amps to the car, but there's no rca pre-outs. You'll have to use a Line Out Converter (LOC). This will allow you to use the speaker wires and turn it to RCA pre-outs for amps.
