How much were they ? and how hard were they to get.

Yo...

I passed this dude at the Berlin entrance to 295 South. I saw him two cars in front of me. Once we both merged, I floored it to pass him (I got an auto, I had to floor it just to pass him).

Anyway...His car is T-I-G-H-T. I saw the JDM taillights, and noticed the Familia badges. From behind, I knew this dude had his s*** together. Passing the car I could tell he had phat rims. I couldn't tell if he had ground effects on the sides, but his front grill looked aftermarket too. I strained to see if he had one of those turbo intercoolers things going on through his front grills....but trust me, I wasn't in front of him long. I set the cruise control on like 5 over the limit...Once it was set, he flew by me and was gone!

It was a perfect time to have some stickers promoting the site on the back windows, so MAAAYBE he could have a glimpse and make a mental note to check the site out...but...I don't think stickers are available yet...

I can't believe you posted about this same ride....Where was that pic taken? Was that at the big car show down near the Delaware Memorial Bridge?

It was definitely the highlight of my day seeing that thing first thing in the morning (crappy day at work...)

So I say we get a manhunt goin on...This guy would be an asset to the board!

Why does every one thing those tail lights are JDM??? Those tail lights come stock on MP3s and 3rd gen protege.

Those lights aren't stock for the Protege 5....They are stock however on the Japanese Familia Wagon. If they didnt come on the Japanese version of our cars, I would see where your coming from...but since they do come on the Japanese version of our car, I consider them the JDM parts. Thats just me...

I donno.. i see them sitting on the back of my car and every other non-hatchback proteges. And the funny thing is that i always wished i got the P5 lights b/c my MP3 lights are the old version. And here you are wishing that you had my tail light. HAHAHAH funny. Well one suggestion for you. Since the tail lights that you want for your car come stock on my car...... Why don't you go to the dealer and order them????

Well, For one reason they are JDM is because although they look like the tails that are on your MP3, they are a slightly different fitment due to the styling of the hatch. MP3 lights will not work on the P5 and vice-versa. That is why you don't see any P5 with Altezzas, even though they make them for the sedan. I know you can get the badges from Corksport, but I didn't see the tails on there. They can probably get those also.

try www.jspec.com they speciallize in used j-spec parts importing into the us. the last time i checked what they had listed for mazda they didn't have any tails for the p5. if you don't see what you're looking for just email them, they responded to my email for a jdm lcd screen in a day.

What's the excitement? seriously, I was wondering why changing badges and taillights would make someone an asset to the board. To me, that's no different than putting the "Type-R" sticker on your integra, or "type-S" on some toyota when you dont actually have it. We have the protege5, not the 323/familia wagon.

The taillights, and the badges I got from my brother when, he was in Japan, he got them from the Mazda dealer other there as well as the Mazda Speed carbon fiber rearview mirror cover (fake carbon fiber, but still looks good). Thanks for the compliments.

Who ever the guy is on 295 you car is nice, not to many P5's around here. I am in the Cherry Hill Area. Drop an email we can roll to a show some time.

To Blynzoo, it's not called rice when you are doing a JDM conversion. It's not my fault I want to stand out of the crowd. Hence no exhaust yet, waiting for a full cat-back exhaust (that Greddy is coming out with). No offense to anyone!!

u said your brother got them for u from japan.... so I assume it hand carried it onto the plane or something..... but were there any charges for customs? cause I wanted to get some Japanese parts but I've read that the charges for customs are so high! or did he have to stow them away so that the guys didn't find out? or did he just say they were gifts?
does anyone else know if a friend helps me bring in stuff, will they be charged for customs?

I'm not sure what he did. I do know that he did have to pay for extra cargo on the plane to get it over here. having him do it this way was alot cheaper then getting them else where. Example he also got my friend (03') S2000 headlights for retail which was between $650-$700 compared to what every one else in the states charges to get it shipped here from Japan (every one in the states wants about a grand for those head lights.)

remember,

you are allowed to have 2 free carry on's for the planes at no charge.

i did this with my ps2 and other smaller mods for my car. a pair of headlights can easily fit in a big gym bag.
