any of you that have replaced the cams would you say it is worth the money and the time. Is there a noticeable improvment? did you have to adjust them or did they go in no problems? Im sure this has been asked but i just want to collect it all in one place.

with what your going for.. cams, header, intake exhaust, eliminated cat, and a UR pulley.. you would notice a significate gain. -=) thats the same way im going. LoL cam gears may help a little toO -=P

twilight we demand answers! we demand them! I must know if intake/exhaust cams actually are worth the pain in the ass to install them...twilight? twwwilllliggghhhttttt!!!!

LMAO!!!!! arh...good to know i'm needed/wanted hahahahaha

performance cams are a definate in any engine build up. if you think of it this way (pretty obvious but some people dont link the two), your engine hp is directly linked to the amount of fuel you can burn....the more air, the more fuel you can burn and the more power you can make.

but would i do the rather large cams again? yes, but i'd do the exhaust first. i may have gone for slightly smaller cams if i had to do it again as my car wont be going turbo in the future, but i'm still glad of the specs i chose.

yea perfworks is coming out with custom ground cams so im waiting for those, correct me if im worng but im remeber him saying that.

So akhilleus, you're saying doing the intake cam is worthwhile but the exhaust cam is a total waste?

i am getting one made for about $150 w/ cam... but its through crower... my own specs.. and i got a deal on the stock cam.

u have to get blanks or stock cams. its $95 to regrind per cam... maybe more for billets.
i cant divulge my specs but something in the range of 210-220deg duration and .345+ lift
i might have a stock intake and exhaust cam available within the next month.

I noticed a slight difference with the J-Spec and the Mazdaspeed. It seemed it pulled better up high.....

I have also had my cam timing adjusted... which means u need cam gears or someone to adjust it manually. Otherwise my powerband would be more up top.. now its between 2.5k-5.5k as opposed to 3.5k-6.5k+

you adjust the adjustable cam gears by simply undoing 5 bolts, moving the cam position to the desired spot (advanced ot retarded) and do up the bolts. very easy to do.

the only way you know if it's right is by dyno tuning the cam gears.

any non-dyno way? can you feel the difference? do the gears have marks on them so somome else can say, oh ,this angle is good or w/e?
