Where do you get REAL Japanese license plates? i was looking to get one, did some searching around, and got some that seemed pretty fake. I was hoping to get one in decent condition that was real. obviously if the company is telling me i can choose what i want it to say, its fake.

thats what i was referring to...how can they be real if you can customize them? i dunno...what are your thoughts on that?

real JDm plates will not fit in our stock plate holes.

the JDM plates are longer and the holes are farther apart. you can make them fit if you remove both front and back US plate holders.

ANYTHING that fits on a US p5 plate bracket is fake. you can tell readily if its fake if the plate has that black outline and the lettering is in black. JDM plates do not have a trim outline and the white face plates have green lettering. judges do know the difference at shows.

there are also plates with black words and yellow plate background. depends on the region.

ebay ocassionally has REAL jdm plates. pairs go for a LOT since the backplate over there has a special lock put on by the DMV to prevent theft.

finding a real SINGLE jdm plate is much easier.

good luck

anyone with more info or corrections post away =D

i know the owner of the site...jerry. please support him if you see him at shows. he works his ass off to get us cool rare stuff. and he is the sponsor of that initial D fujiwara 86 conversion thats been causing a sensation,

he's a cool dude, i know he can get real ones. but i dont see them on the site and he only offers them if he gets his hands on any.

the ones here are fake:

for a pair about $80.

best option is to find somone in japan with old plates and just buy it from them.

like if you know anyone stationed in japane right now i'm sure they can find it....especially in rural areas.

Bah, I'll just get them myself when I go to Japan this winter break. Probably go to the junk yard or something and get them..

Sheesh, I ain't paying $80 bucks for a piece of plate and few letters on it, probably even get pick on by cops!

uh oh... matt and jliao... u guys maybe onto something.. GB for jdm plates hahaha o.O peace - chris

hey jliao-

what area of japan are you going to?

rural areas or more suburban areas are the only place you'll find junkyards.

also, less people drive in big cities like tokyo...everyone subways and trains around. there are more "fixed up" cars and stuff like plates in less populated regions.

or you can always jack one and risk getting busted by customs or even worse have some japanese cop see you...lol. on teh backplate, you will have to break the plate or break off the DMV lock in order to get a pair...you'll know what i'm talking about when your there =D

Well, I jacked a plate from Germany and customs didn't say a damn thing. I also tried to get my cousin to pick up a plate when he was stationed in Japan, but he couldn't get his hands on any. He couldn't even find a junkyard. All I have to say is good luck and if you find any....LET ME KNOW!!!

You got it right! ^.^

Actually I don't know yet, but when I go over there I'm going to try and get one myself :)
