Registration isn't open yet as far as I can tell, but I'll make a big yell about it when it does.

# March 27 & 28, 2004 Vir - North Course
# June 19 & 20, 2004 Vir - Full Course
# August 28 & 29, 2004 Summit Point

i have not had the chance to drive the full course only the north course...supposedly they are going to slightly change the back straight by putting in some esses through the woods to make it a little more challenging

I've had my motorcycle on the south course and I love every moment of it. I really want to get my car on the north course. The full course would be nice but I think the uphill esses on the north course would be my favorite part.

That is actually the esses after the fish hook on the South course. That line of cones off to the right was the continuation of the North Course and the really sweet uphill esses. Right where the video stopped is also a pretty hairy turn. They call it South Bend and it is basically a high speed sweeper that falls away from you dramatically after you hit the apex. It's 110mph+ on a motorcycle depending on your balls and when it falls away your gaurunteed to slide. It was a pucker factor of 8-9 for me..only eclipsed by the perfect pucker factor of 10 when I missed my downshift and ran off the track in the Oak Tree corner.

You sure it's not the north? It looks like he crosses under the bridge and then into the right hand curve just before the uphill?

I have heard from some folks that the oak tree is considered the "OH SHI!!!!!" section. The more I look at this, the more anxious I am about going.

And I botch stick figures, it's just not right for me to laugh at anothers ability, besides, it looks fine.

I learned the secret to the Oak Tree on my second trip to VIR. Notice it is a double apex. Take the fist apex and drift wide like you would normally. The trick is the second apex is much tighter. Once you've made the first apex (3rd gear) head straigt for the wall until you can't stand it anymore. Then catch a quick downshift (I mean really quick) and turn like a son of a b****.

The true "race line" through Oak tree is pretty cool.... You stay to the outside of the first right hander coming into oak tree. Stay out there, and late apex Oak Tree itself. Helped me get 2-3 carlength jumps on cars with 300hp in my little 110hp RX-7... all about Momentum...

The biggest pucker area for me was Roller Coaster through Hogpen... Last time I was down there, it was raining heavy all weekend... Lots of bent sheetmetal through that section...

Climbing Esses in the 7 were at the top of 4th, about 105mph... lift and you're dead....

With the addition of the "patriot" layout of VIR this year, I don't think they'll be adding to it any time soon... They already have the longest course in the nation....

Oh, if you couldn't tell... hehe... VIR is hands down, my FAVORITE course... Run off room like you wouldn't believe, beautiful scenery, an AWESOME track, and first class facilities...
