Army unit in Iraq disobeys orders

well lets see, i have been deployed to the area they are located. i would say ihave first hand knowledge of the subject. IF the article is displaying truth, then my statement is correct. we had a pussy that decided he wasnt going to go on any more missions with us towards the end of the war, and he got himself kicked out of the army. anything else while you sit in your comfy seat?

Thank you for your service.

The mission that was declined by the 19 people in the quartermaster was later carried out by 120 troops, in well armored vehicles. If some pussy decides to back out of missions thats fine call and label him whatever, but when its more than one (ie 19) then something isnt right. It wasnt a decision made by just one person the whole group decided not to do the mission, so does that make ALL 19 soldiers pussies? Probably not.

Just remember how much money the US has put into this war, you would think with over 100 billion you could at least make sure the troops were properly equipped. But hey, as long as Iraqis can vote then so by golly all those fallen soldiers is worth it!!!!!!!

where does it say they went out iwth armored vehicles? no where that i could see. try reading that again.

the vehciles were fine i am sure. deadlined means s*** in the army, if you were in you would know. a broken speedometer deadlines a vehicle but in combat you can operate without one.

what it is, is some jackass that convinced the rest of the 19 not to participate, and they should all be jailed. if you cant ******* follow simple orders, you shouldnt be in the military. if everyone just decided on a whim which missions to take and which not to take, how much do you think would get accomplished?

Here is part of what the Chicago Tribune carried on-line today:

"The U.S. Army Reserve soldiers who refused orders to drive a dangerous route are members of one of a few supply units whose trucks still are not armored, their commanding general said Sunday.

The soldiers, now under investigation, previously focused on local missions in safer parts of southern Iraq and had not driven a convoy north along the attack-prone roads through Baghdad.

"Not all of their trucks are completely armored," said Brig. Gen. James Chambers, commanding general of 13th Corps Support Command, which sends 250 convoys daily with Army fuel, food and ammunition across Iraq."

no s***, 99 percent of all wheeled army vehicles arent in the slightest bit armored. thats why if you arent int he army its really easy to mistake or let the news media slide your attention.

Just to put my 2 cents here.

I just got back from Fallujah and the "Armor" really didnt do s*** with those IEDS, Day in and Day out, our Devildogs came back F***ed Up because of IEDS, but they never refused one Patrol or Convoy. Speaking of broken down vehicles, on our convoy to come back home, 2 of our 5 Tons broke down in between Ramadi and Fallujah. We were down for about 1 1/2 hours! . Those 19 people should have sucked it and went on their way, Im pretty sure they had enough Weapons, I guess they might have wanted Helo escorts.

goddamn reserve QM corps. we did the same s*** everyday with no armor, leaking ass vehicles, breaking down on the side of the road s***. i know you know the way it is rod.

Some reserve personnel just need to be kicked out, some of them are pretty old, I feel bad for them, but either way, the mission should have been completed, Im pretty sure they had Crew Served weapons or enough firepower to hold someone off until reinforcements arrived.

uh yea even 19 m16s can take out the insurgents. it isnt like there are brigades of fighters, it is onesies and twosies for the most part. but im sure they have some 249s, m2s, or mk19s.

Some of the reserve are probably pissed cause now they actually have to go fight, and here they thought they just did a few weeks here and there. I mean who would have thought you have to actually fight in the military, you mean all the commericals of playing golf and jet sking aren't true?? ;)

yea, no kidding. ihate those ******* sob stories about reservists/natty gaurds who have to go serve. what the **** did you join thinking that the army was just a playground?

On Monday, Ricky Shealey of Quinton, Ala., father of one of the soldiers involved, told The Associated Press that his son, Spc. Scott Shealey, said the trucks earmarked for the mission had hauled jet fuel and were then loaded with diesel fuel without purging the tanks. "The fuel was mixed and he wasn't going on a mission to deliver fuel that could harm those with the helicopters," Ricky Shealey told the AP.

im not in aviation, but since when do helicopters use diesel fuel?
