are you a safe driver?

Spin off of another thread as not to sully that one up too much.

I am so so. To and from work I drive with the cruise set @ 60mph and listen to tunes. That's it.

On the weekends, I sometimes get a lil silly on back roads and junk but nothing all too bad.

On a motorcycle I am pretty much a retard from the moment I thumb it over until I put the kickstand down. I guess it all comes out in the wash.

I think I'm mostly safe; I really have to pay attention to everything on the road with so much traffic in NoVA area.

Once in a blue moon, I like to take advantage of the car's sporty character on twisty back roads, but even then I'm careful since there are too many deers roaming around.

I believe I'm a very safe driver. I speed. I drive what some might consider fast for conditions. Blah, blah, blah. I also constantly survey my surroundings. I am always expecting the unexpected. I have pushed my cars to their limits under varied, but safe, conditions to learn how far I can push. Then theres the one that makes all the difference. I don't drive stupid, which is what usually follows the statements "Here, Hold my beer, Now watch this".

Does perpetually doing 80 in a 55/65 count as safe? And I'm still the slowest person on the turnpike! -_-

+1.

Since the speeding ticket, I haven't gone 10MPH over the limit that much. I just want to get used to the actual speed with the rest of the traffic. However, here in Rochester, it's almost impossible to speed really...Too much traffic everywhere. Therefore, I believe I am a safe and trustworthy driver. No accidents since my provisional *knocks on wood*.

I usually hold one hand over an eye to test my vision as I read the road signs while I am driving.

You mean the NJ turnpike? If so, don't worry about it. If you're going with the flow of the traffic, then I would consider it safe.

I believe that I am a pretty safe driver. Sure I admit that sometimes I mess around with my friends seeing how fast a car can go in the early morning hours, but I make sure there is hardly anyone out on the roads and we are on a wide roadway with many lanes just in case I need to use them.

Although in Houston, you always have to be cautious of your surroundings because you can be driving safe as can be and then all of a sudden some other dumbass around you can still cause an accident.

I think I'm a very skilled driver. I've been driving standard for my 12 years of driving, and I've only gotten a few tickets for little bits of speeding. I do drive very fast when it's safe to; safe being my judgment, which is good so far!

No music when driving fast, no driving fast because someone might have pissed you off by driving stupidly or some perceived offense.. It's all about alertness and not deciding to swerve angrily, etc. like so many others do. You need to be cautious anywhere you drive. The most skilled & respectful drivers I've seen on the east coast were in New Hampshire & Virginia. Florida drivers are probably the worst I've seen, and Ontario snowbirds are probably a close second as far as idiocy & non-respect goes.

Hm.. It's fun to push cars pretty well to their limits, if you get the chance to. A few friends of mine feel the same way, and we sometimes play cat and mouse on.. a road.. One of my buddies has a nicely modified GLI, and is willing to drive it up to about 120 or so. He can almost keep up with the MS3 (stll unmodified performance-wise) but is not willing to drive 130-140..

I've never hit anything, never killed a clutch or worn out an engine prematurely (I think) but am pretty hard on tires & brakes.
