I've seen many post by people saying how slow 3rd gen protege and p5 are. Recently I've been noticing that I'm being passed by almost everyone while on the highway. Start off is slow, but even doing highway speeds I'm already at 3k rpm at 60mph. It seems that in order to catch up to everyone the car will have to work extra hard. My concern however, is if my car may be lagging more than normal and how to check on that. I have no CEL, and no starting problems of any kind. In August mechanic said I need to have my throttle body cleaned, and spark plugs replaced. I opted to have them change the spark plugs only. I didn't notice any changes after.
My feeling is although the speedo says 55mph, is it possible the car is only going 45mph. I cant see how everyone on the highway could be doing within 55-60mph and still be that far ahead of me. I know all drivers dont adhere to the speed limit, so I'm sure some are doing 70-80, but everyone can't be doing 5-10 mph more than I, and be that far ahead. Not sure if that made sense
