apex downpipe

hi everybody!

I'm a new member in this group. I 'm an happy msp owner since december and i would like to do some mod on my car (upyours) (like many user .....heuu..ALLuser on this group.) (thumb) but i have some question about the "apex cat less downpipe" for msp.

- what's happen with the o2 sensor ??? Without cat , the o2 sensor probablie detect a problem an code it in the computer of the car ? My "check engine" light will light up ? Mazda dealer can see I have try some trick on my car ?

The catless DP comes with the MIL which eleiminates the cel. The sensor still gets plugged into the DP. So you don't remove the 02 senor. The MIL basically tricks the ecu into thinking that it's still operating correctly.

not sure if mazda would be able to tell if you've rigged something to keep a cel from showing. if they bothered to duck under your car, maybe.

You will still need the mil eliminator if you have a dp w/ high flow cat

hmmm... I keep reading different things on this. Does it, or does it not throw the CEL. The apex guy told me it doesn't.

Is there a downpipe that doesnt throw a cel? I would rather just bolt something up for easy removal if I had to go to the dealer.

I hear that it will throw the cel but if the guy from apex says it does not then maybe it doesnt. You probably just have to hook it up a certain way.

as long as the cat is working, you shouldn't get a CEL. no one on the boards has mentioned the problem. your 2nd o2 sensor should be getting a different reading than the first with the cat in between.

MIL- modifies the signal sent to the pcm/ecu/computer and 'tells' it that the cat is working normally. this way the OBD-II emissions system never detects the missing cat/cats

CEL- Check Engine Light, illuminates on the gauge cluster to alert you of a OBD-II code.

Any body have install a dp without cat yet?? Do you have juste add the dp or all the exhaust line ? Do you have realy seen a difference.

MIL = Malfunction Indicator Lamp, it's another name for the CEL.

yes i recommend the magnaflow. you can order it from summit or jegs for around $100. i had nice gains in power with the single cat over the stock 2.
