AP will not recognize ecu

Making this thread for my brother, I have little knowledge of the speed3 so any little bit helps.

When we are trying to install the AP it keeps saying that it can not communicate with the ECU. We have checked all connections, made sure its the most up to date version ( not sure if that matters) and nothing has worked. Would really like to get this thing installed, thx for any input.

nice rsx now take the goofy spoiler off an make it look even better!

now, is the AP new or used? if used could be it wasn't properly unmarried from the previous car. its whenever you just hook it up or only when you try an change maps? could be its not installed to his car yet.

eh I've debated taking it off,

anyways no the AP is brand new ordered from cobb, and the whole problem is it can't install at all, I wish we could get past that part, anyways cobb is closed till the 1st of the year so I guess we will wait until then.

make sure the box to the obd2 port is on all the way, and that the usb ports are plugged correctly and completely. that sucks man i know that if you need a replacement cobb will have you ship it but there fast on the way back. not much to the install so i dont know why its being a butt head, man. good luck:)

Usually this kind of stuff is cable related. Take the cable off, lube everything well with dielectric grease and reinstall. I find the OBD2 ports pretty finicky, which is why I never disconnect my Dashhawk.

That's what I was thinking, I will try that see if I get any different results.

Another question should the screen on the AP flicker really badly? I have never seen one in person before now, so I have no clue, but when it is hooked up to a computer it is much clearer than when its hooked into the car.

Thanks for all the responses, Kpro was a much more enjoyable experience for me lol.

you try a dashhawk on it? could be the obdII port. if not then maybe take it to autozone and see if the machine they use can read it.

yea sounds like an odbi problem. it shouldnt be flickering at all. any other speeds around you could try to install the ap on?

If the screen is flickering badly then you either have a loose connection to the OBDII port or the USB port on the AP OR the unit itself is bad. If you continue to have issues, you might just contact our customer service line at 801-713-0035 and inquire about a replacement unit.

I had the same problem with the AP as well some of the newer cobb AP with the dual connection of the usb and obdII are not working correctly and could not either install to the ecu or the computer call cobb there should be an update to fix this problem.
Hope this helps out

Yup, called cobb and they are having us ship it back.

**update**

Just received the ap back from cobb and was successfully able to install it on the car. Thanks cobb for the great customer support!!!
