Anyone with experience importing a car from Japan to US or Canada?

I've read a lot of talk on hear re JDM engine swaps - anyone ever brought a whole car over? I'm looking to get my first drift car and it seems like shopping in Japan would be better for the model I'm after. Any tips, tricks or horror stories - all are welcome... thanks!
