Anyone use the ICE products?

Been using NXT and keep reading how good the ICE stuff is and wanted to try it.

I have never clayed my car yet and when I called Turtle Wax Hotline they said to remove old wax befor starting their product and though the people who answered the phone didnt seem to know s*** I figured clay bar would be the best way to do this.

There is a liquid clay bar that I thought would be easy enough to try and it would clean the paint and remove all NXT wax so would this be a good product to use?

After I figured it was up in the air if I should use the liquid form or paste form of ICE and Turtle wax people say its the same thing just as the NXT people did but I say better results from the paste version. So which have you tried?

Also I use the speed detailers daily to remove gutter splash off the fenders and any bugs ect on the front. Typically I use the dust mop every AM then a fast wipe down with detailer and every other day clean the entire car with detailer and clean the tires/rims. I mention this since the ICE is $9 for 16oz as compared to NXT $6 for 24oz. This s*** better be good for the price.

Needless to say my car is always clean and people often ask if it ever gets dirty so much that friends put finger prints to see if I will find them, which I do and pop the trunk where my take along products and microfiber rags are, lol.

Any how questions are:

1) liquid clay bar any good
2) paste vs liquid ICE
3) how good is the speed detailer
4) best method of removing old wax liquid clay bar or dish soap wash down?

From what I read, the liquid clay bar is rubbish.

Paste ice and liquid ice works both just as good.

I use NXT speed detailer. Wonderful stuff.

I just wash using NXT car wash, dry, wax with turtle wax ice (paste) make sure you apply it VERY thinly or it will be hard to take off.

Its been over a month with storm rains and my car still beads water.

Well to be honest the reason I want to try the ICE is I read that the detailer shines better then other stuff.

If you are still using NXT detailer then I may just stick with the NXT all together since that is what I planned on making the big difference.

So how should I remove the old wax if I decide to try the ICE? To clay bar every inch of the car would suck ass and I dont need to since the paint is smooth as glass since its cleaned daily and garaged. I am always cleaning off daily dirt so it wont bake in the sun the next day so thats probably why my paint is still smooth.

Meguiars told me that if the paint is smooth its pointless to clay bar so in that case maybe just some dish soap to strip wax would be my best choice.

Nutari you are mainly the one that go tme thinking about the ICE from our previous posts so since you said you used the NXT wax can you tell the ICE is better in some ways, and how so?

Well if you want to strip the old wax off, a potent mixture of dawn with water will do it.. Wash the car with a heavy dosage of dawn, than dry.. Move the car into the shade and bust out the clay bar. You can do this two ways..

you can use a clay lubricant that generally comes with your claybar or mix 1 capful of automotive wash per 12 oz of water X 4 or 6. I generally make a gallon of the stuff so you can keep going without stopping except for a quick refill. Im not stingy with lubricant. I generally will use 48oz to 64oz of lube with my claybar.

Start with the roof and saturate the hell out of it with the lube. than spray the bar. go back in fourth until the scratching sound disappears... Than move on to the next section. I divide my roof up into 10 sections, hood into 12, than the doors and fenders as a whole section, constantly spraying lube on it..

The bar will take off a lot of crap off the surface. I dont find it rubbish, if you take your time and do it correctly, you will be rewarded with a smooth exterior.

From there you can polish out the scratches and swirls.. Than finish off with a polish or glaze.. Than all thats left is to seal it.. Whether its wax or a poly based sealer. I ended up going back to Zaino for the silver.

He didnt mean clay bar was rubbish he meant the LIQUID form from ICE is rubbish.

I dont think I need to be doing any clay bar just yet since the paint is smooth already. When I wipe it down with the microfiber I dont feel it getting caught on anything at all.

I still want to know about the ICE products if its worth the $9 bottle of detailer vs NXT.

I've used some of the ICE products and i feel that i get a better shine from the Zymol line.

The only Zymol I see in stores is the blue liquid stuff but no other detailer spray or anything with it.

I am just going to let me NXT bake for another month since I just did it last week and by that time it should be time for another coat at which time I will give he ICE a try.

Well any more input on these products?

I looked at them again today and the liquid clay bar seems easy to use if it does what it says. It would be sweet to use it first then apply the paste version of ICE then buff with the detailer on microfiber to smooth it out and shine it up.

I guess I will just have to try it out and see for myself.

i really dont like the ice polish products

the liquid polish imo is crap. and i think the mothers detailer is much better.

1)i use ICE car wash however which works nice
2)i dry using 100% terry cloths
3)tire shine with terry cloths that ive rotated into tire shine duty.
4)i do a coat of the ice polish, and get the rubber trim, and headlights (just because i have it, im not gonna buy it again)
5)then i use the spray detailer.
6)then i wax, if im in the super detailing mood, i use mothers carnuba cleaner and then a coat of meguairs paste wax, or if the car doesnt need it, 2 coats of the meguiars wax gets the silver paint looking and feeling excellent

you know the shine is perfect on your car, when you sister looks at it, the the sunlight reflection burns the cornea in her eye.

XD

i use the ICE wash.....i really like it, and it smells good too...I bought the liquid stuff....but i havent gotten the time to use it yet....i personally think it will do a nice job....plus you can apply it in direct sunlight.

There are at least 4 or five threads that have covered this topic already. I know because I have posted in almost every one. Use the search bro.

not the worst stuff i've used but certainly not the best. since the polish is clear, i found myself missing a couple spots. i do like the fact it shines up the plastic and rubber around the car.

Can we talk about run on sentences?

i didn't read the whole thing, but in my oppinion, its all in the marketing... if you use any of the products the right way it'll work... and the benefits of using one brand over the other is probably marginal... i mean i learned from doing it myself. i used mquire's gold, nxt, turtle wax, that ice stuff you're talking about, zymol, the paste stuff and liquid, all different stuff they seem to all do the job... i just wasted s*** loads of money on it lol so who wants some wax?

You have a good point and I was thinking the same thing but asked first. You just saved me a bunch of money so thanks man.
