I'm wondering if its worth it and also what gets addressed at 10k miles? Thanks guys. (nana)

You should have done it at 7500 and then again at 15K there is no 10K service that I'm aware of.

15K is one of the bigger ones w/ the 30K being the most expensive and most important (i.e. spark plugs, etc)

Everything is just inspect brakes/fluids/lube until you hit 30k (plugs) and 60k (plugs again and timing belt).

no Dex,

30K is the spark plugs

I'll pull out the dealer thing at lunch and write it all down.

"no dex" what?

 all i asked was what was at 15k.... (boom03)

Sorry man, I should have read more carefully :(

Here's what's in the 15K:

Change Oil
1st Alignment (pay for it)
Inspect Tires, Brakes, Coolant (top off), Rotors
Lube all hinges and rubber pieces
torque things back to spec
take out for a test drive and burn rubber all over the place :D
$200 + dollars!

Eh, **** that.
I can change oil, inspect tires, brakes, and rotors on my own. My coolant is topped off, checked yesterday.
Alignment, in a bit, but not worth $200.

The guys at the dealer told me if you do stuff or go somewhere else, make a documentation of it (so as not to screw w/ the warranty) They can't mess with you if you have "proof" that stuff was done :D

I'm looking on MNAO right now for stuff, I'll be back in a second

wow, the only thing worth paying for is the alignment and the oil change, both of which should be no more than $70... and most places throw in all that other inspection crap for free. friggin stealerships for sure! i bet you if you don't do this, they say that the warranty is void because you didn't service your car or something.

They also check at the 15K level Refrigerent Level and Compressor Operation. Whooptie DOO!!!

BTW, at 12K the only thing they recommend doing is replacing the In Cabin Microairfilter thingamajig. We don't have that (to my knowledge) so that isn't a concern.

**** them. They give me s*** for my stupid turbo timer and boost gauge anwyays. So i dont even care about my stupid pussy ass warranty anymore anyways.

At 30K here is what they INSPECT:
Drive Belts (tension)
Cooling system
Idle speed
Fuel lines, hoses & connections
Brake line, hoses & connections
Disk brakes
Drum brakes
Steering operation & linkages
Front suspension and ball joints
Driveshaft dust boots
Bolts & nuts on chassis & body
Exhaust system heat shields
All locks & hinges (lube 'em up)
Refrigerant amount (if installed)
Compressor operation (if installed)

Here is what they REPLACE
Spark plugs
Spark plugs (MAZDASPEED Protg Turbo)
Air filter
Engine oil filter
Engine oil

Don't shoot the messenger Dex (drinks) :D I just thought I'd tell ya what they said to me to keep the warranty. I feel your pain though.. it's like walking on eggshells. They should be--> dealer---> (chair) <--- Dexter

In the southeast we have "Express Oil change". $27.95 will get everything inspected that the dealership does on the 30K service. also, they have me in and out in under 20 minutes.

FWIW, when my motor popped and they saw the Valvoline oil filter on my car the VERY FIRST thing the dealership said was..."You don't have a mazda filter on your car where did you have your oil changed?" I said "Express Oil". They told me " Yeah you need to take it back to them. they blew your motor." I don't figure they knew I was a mechanic there at the time. It was so funny watching the dealership try to place blame somewhere else......anywhere else..Like I didn't know what the **** I was doing.

Dealerships would never get my business. EVEN FOR WARRANTY WORK.

I did not take mine back in until the exhaust broke (at around 30k miles) and when I did they performed the general inspection of the car. My dealer was great and I will be buying another Mazda from them. Unless the RX8 goes to s*** or my Wife changes her mind about what car she wants next.
From what I can tell the service was just an inspection of all the major components. My car passed with flying colors icluding the original tires.
I change my own oil and only use Mobil1 with WIX filters. I offerd up the receipts so they could scan them and have them in my car's records.
I think my dealer just wants to make sure you are following all your normal maintence procedures and are not beating the car to death. Once they know that you are doing what you should be doing as a responsible owner they are very helpful. I know Matty got screwed but not all dealers are so inclined.

Bottom line is I will Never ever take my car back to the dealer if possible. Its known as the stealership around here. I really dont see a need for the 10K tune up....its all stuff you can do by yourself. The 30K might be worth investing but I would definately find someone else to do it. Dealers are going to give you crap no matter what. I hope they dont void my warrrenty because I change my oil/oil filter by myself....I want a good synthetic (mobile 1) in my car. Im not going to pay $60-$80 to get my oil changed (sythetic). Whats the fun in owning a car if you cant do basic matience by yourself....why sould you have to pay the dealer just to get your filter/oil changed? Its basic car mainatence. I know the dealer is worried about idiots not changing there oil correctly...but common, give us alittle leeway.

Wow thanks a lot guys didn't quite expect this many replies. After seeing what they actually do at this mileage it really is not necessary. I'll get my alignment done somewhere else. I'd also be doing the oil myself but its too god damn cold. :(
