2003.5 mazdaspeed protege
thinking of trading in my msp for a msm anyone have any pro's or con's about the miata? any input will help.

thanks

Go for it and don't look back.

Miata cons: Feels small with the top up, big blind spot with the top up. Tiny trunk. You get a really nice view of the license plate of the Excursion in front of you.

Miata pros: An incredible driving experience. Everything...the steering, the handling, the power, combine to make a true driving machine.

thanks man i recently started working at a mazda dealership and fell in love with and 05 orange miata... anyone else with some input would be appreciated, this is kinda a finacial decision also.

thanks

They are very different cars so it's hard to compare. But of course the MSM is a great little car. I got a chance to drive one at Rev it up event last sring. It's quick. it handles amazingly. However as you probably realize you will have to forget the particality of the msp aka no more hauling stuff for you. But if you're ready for the minor inconveniences than by all means get it. Also as you probably know working in the mazda dealership the new miata is going to come out very soon (i am assuming summer), so the prices on regular miatas should go down. Just something to think about.... Good luck and i am not worried cause eather way you're in the Mazda family :D

there is only so much you can tell just looking at them with minimal chances to drive one to keep the miles down on a new car so im still kinda curious and excited

Are you married with kids and this is the primary vehicle?...if not, get the MSM...I want to, but funds are not allowing me to, specially since I DO NOT want to give up my speed...looks good for once the MSP is paid for, and money isn't so tight, people will be selling their MSM's for MS-8's hopefully:D

money is tight cuz i got a dui a while back and insurance went through the roof, but my msp is paid for.

Well I went P5 to MSM.. that's close right?

The MSM is *so* much more fun to drive.. And at teh same time *SO* much less useful.. IF you can justify having a miata (aka, don't have kids, or have another car for haulin them around) then I'd say efinately go for it... If you can find an '04 left on teh lot, they're going for like 19k.. Most of teh dealers in DFW are already knocking about 3k off the '05s (liek the orange one you fell in love with)

FWIW, there's only a few hundred of the orange MSM's out there. 1528 '05 MSMs total, and probably only 15-20% of those are orange.. Just something to keep in mind ;)

BTW, Miata insurance is cheap... (yes, even the MSM) Most insurance companies stastics tell them only old people drive them. ;)

I just bought the last Titanium Gray MSM in my Colorado area with only 30 miles and traded in my MSP #808. Got the MSM for for $20,400. Gonna miss her, but I'm lovin the new lady!

u can't compare the miata to the protege, they r totally different

i personally hate convertibles, so i'm bias to stick with the msp

How does Mazdaspeed Miata compare with just having a regular 2nd gen Miata and dropping a Flyin' Miata turbo in it? Isn't the FM turbo better?

A FM 1 and 2 has more power. No warranty though. Plus the prices of MSM's are so low its worth it. We got ours for 19,040 + fees. I dont like convertibles either but rwd is my bias and I like it more than the MSP. and I drove many and own a p5. As others have said those much less usefull.

I went from msp to msm, and haven't looked back since =). Hell I got mine for 18,000 out the friggin door =)

I'm sure it's a wonderful car... but I'm going to have a mortgage soon and the Protege is 3/4 paid off and I don't plan on ever selling it.

For me it will be 1st gen Miata for a few thousand. Mods as I can do them.
And/or a used motorcycle to play with. That's all more weekend fun than most mortals can comprehend...

Odd, my insurance is cheaper for my MSM than my MSP.

had 03.5 MSP have 04 MSM

(deadhorse Through a connecting rod through the bottom end (hand) of MSP. Oil and chunks of metal shredded the turbo! (deadhorse God I loved Shinikwa(my MSP) (blowjob) But I had her fixed and traded in for Shania(my MSM) (omg) Life is good with a drop top! A few quick questions though. Mine is the only one I've seen with Vynal as apposed to cloth, and mine has no fuel cut like th FM project car, I have a rev limiter set at 7200 rpm. (boom07)
