anyone running this size snows on Stockers?

Hey all,

Just wondering if anyone is running 225-40-18" snow tires of any sort on their stock MS3 wheels? If so I'm trying to get first hand feedback, what are the PROS and CONS you've experienced, sides the price which is incredibly expensive.

Unfortunately there is only like 4 tire choices in 215-45-18's how SADUH!

the wider the snow tire the worse it will perform, so keep that in mind. You want to have the tire pierce through the snow not float on top.

I understand that, but having only 4 choices in tires in the 215 size that's not much to go on especially the bloody eye gouging prices for them.

Well the way I see it, if BMW's with 255 snows can so can my little MS3 with 225's. Anything is better then what we got OEM summers.

I'm running 225/40-18 ultra high performance all-seasons, not specifically snow tires. I've noticed nothing noteworthy regarding the size...other then they look really wide compared to stock.

Why not just order a steelie/winter set from Tire Rack?

I'm running 225x45x18 snow tires on my stock rims. Works fine in the snow, I was able to get through winter last year in Toronto with no problem, and we came close to breaking a record for snow fall.

Look into that size as well as the 225x40, they both work although I sometimes (only with two adults in the back) rub with my 225x45 tires. Although I have not rubbed at all since putting on my Cobb springs.

I liked that size because they are a little higher sidewall for winter driving, there is a good choice of snow tires in that size, and they are closer in diameter to the stock tires.

The biggest advantage of going with 225 is it keeps most of the cars stock handling in the winter. The ride on snow tires is a bit softer and turn-in is less sharp, but at the limit handling is still pretty good (compared to my summer tires which are Falken RT-615, 245x40x18).

cuz I really would like to stick with the stock look, and YES i have thought about the 16" from tirerack too.

I am running that size with a set of YK520's for two years now with no problems at all, i actually like them a lot.

Excellent, NOW only if I can get the guy to sell me his stock rims?? don't know what's the hold up?
