Anyone running this brand of wheel that can speak for its quality?

Found a set of wheels made by a company named Kosei racing which I think is located in Japan. They make a wheel called the K1 TS and in its 17x7 configuration comes in at 13.7 lbs. They also cost under 200$ which is making me question the quality. Anyone having a problem with these wheels bending or braking?

I drove Kosei K1's (Not the TW- Twin Spoke, but the single spoke, pic below) on my MINI Cooper S, including annual Dragon trips and I know several people who autocross on them as well. They're actually fairly popular with autocrossers precisely for the light weight & affordable price.

If the K1 TS was still available in 18x7.5 anywhere, I'd have bought those instead of the 5Zigens I just got.

Yes, Kosei are a great value and a very reliable street/track wheel. I've never had them, but have quite a few friends and autoxers that rock the K1s.

Sounds like they do pretty well then. I'm go with a 17x7 +50 with a 225/45 tire to try and stay as close to stock width and position. Good thing these are so cheap. When I decide to go to a 8.5-9 inch wide rim and destroy my fenders I won't be in a hole from this purchase.

If Kosei still made the K1, I'd own a set for this car. (thumb)

According to Tire Rack and a few other sources I checked with, even the K1 TS is discountinued already, so current stock is what's available.

Anyone looking for a set might want to shop ASAP. 18's are already hard to come by.

17's FTW.

13.7 lbs!

Less than $200!

I'm still kicking myself for not picking up a set of the gold K1 TS in 18" from TireRack. They were blowing them out for $99 per wheel! I wonder how many ppl actually got them at that price.

Keep going and try to buy them, you'll eventually get to a "sorry, no longer available" page.

Dammit!

i love the k1's man. go for it! i'm gonna go with rpf1, though.

I love the RPF1's. I've got a set in 15x7 for the Miata... but the 3's got the discontinued 18x7 Kazera KZ-V's (flash) light wheels ftw! Kosei makes a quality and inexpensive wheel. That's a great buy. I approve. Do they have a 17x7.5 also? or is that a higher price?

I'm was planning on the 17x7 because the tire that is going on is a 225/45/17 Hoosier A6. If i wanted to get a larger tire it would have to be a 245/40 since it's the next size up. I'm also worried about rubbing since I just lowered the car on BC springs but height is still adjustable. So I can change that. I still might go with a 17x8 so I can go to a larger tire later but I don't want to rub with this setup.

Anyone think a 17x8 +48 225/45/17 would rub while on BC coilovers? I think I might go for it anyways and roll if they rub. Tires get ordered tomorrow so I have little time to decide!

so did it rub?

So did u go with the 17x8 +48 225/45/17 ?
Does it rub at all (hard cornering/under load/over big bumps)?
I am thinking of doing that package as well but will not lower.
