Anyone remove the OEM front airdam?

That front airdam seems to sit pretty low. Even stock it just barely clears normal size curbing. I think when I get around to upgrading the springs I'm going to take it off. Has anyone done this? I wonder if it makes much difference for gas mileage and highway stability. I'm afraid once the car sits lower, if I don't take it off, it'll get ripped off. I already bent it out of shape a bit parking in a dirt area near the track recently (there was a good sized rut I didn't notice while avoiding a much larger rut).
 
I'm not messing with it, past experiences have shown me that messing with air dams can lead to lower aero and hotter temps in the engine bay.
 
I forgot to mention I'll be installing the corksport skid tray soon, which I image would only help things.
