anyone race a stock wrx yet ?

Contrary to popular belief, if you know how to drive the car, you can atleast run with him. Don't be overzealous on the launch though, or he'll eat you alive. A friend of mine has an '02 w/ 3" turboback and an SRI, his best times are 14.2 @ 101. Stock he was around high 14's. If you can drive it right, our car can run high 14's stock. If you were to get an MBC at 9psi, you could definitely run with him, or take him. I'll find out next weekend how I do against him with my reflash and 9psi.

I was going up a hill, actully it was Fullerton Road and this wrx pulled up and and we were side by side all the way up. When we got near Life Plaza, he rolled down his window and started telling me how much he likes my car. My cousin has a WRX and he even likes my car. He keeps telling me it has potential.

I don't know about you, but I have anger management issues. If I drive by the fullerton area and see that pompass ass kid laughing at my car, I'd pull out my car jack handle and bash in his windows. If he even tries to get out of his car, I'd pull my knife on him. Then I'd slash all his tires, get in my car and drive off.

...but that's just me....

BTW, you should try and go to the Life Plaza meets every Sunday night. That way you could see how well Mazdas and Subarus really get along.

Why must everyone always post "use the search" or "why don't you try searching?" This helps noone. Maybe he has searched and couldn't find what he was looking for.

104mph? What mods did you have? I know a '03 owner with intake, 4" downpipe, 3" mid-pipe, 3" exhaust with highflow cat, unichip piggyback, boost controller, etc that traps 97mph.

Not to thread jack but here's the short version. MBC at 17psi (was all I could get before fuel cut) 3" prototype turbo back exhaust, custom CAI, iced intercooler, custom ic sprayer setup (windshield nozzle sprayers) removed ac belt, rear seat/spare/tools and anything else that wasn't held down with more than a couple bolts. Most of the mods were DIY stuff I was playing around with to learn the car and where gains could be made.

Ah, good stuff. :)

It Is sad to see punk kids give us Impreza drivers a bad name. Just keep in mind that not all Subaru owners arent small pricked @$$ holes. Ive been on this Forum trying to get some good info on the MSP for my friend. Its an awsome car for what you pay! Be carfull the boxer eng packs a punch, with just a MBC @ 16psi and a catback I run EVOs

As far as the '02 bug eyes Screw You!:p Im just joking to each there own you know...

There are 2 guys in our club here at school with WRX, the one I mentioned earlier is modded, the other one is stock. I've run the modded one when I was stock, but would like to get a chance at both of them again now that I'm at 9psi. We will see. For the most part Sub guys are pretty cool, but there are a few a$$es in there.

dude...a chance in valet mode?! 7psi on a WRX is half it's boost. It'll have just as much at the crank as you, but his drivetrain losses would be HUGE (as YuYu pointed out). You should be able to tear his ass apart with that much of a handicap.

on the other had...if he's running his stock 1+ bar, you may as well go in reverse. :D Of course, that's what it would look like if he pulled up to an STi. I saw one accelerate to pass someone yesterday...It just pulled the the side and moved forward like this giant, smooth and fast snake. Beautiful!

Unfortunately, that's 1/3 of his boost.

I pulled up behind an STi a while ago & thought it would be fun just to see him go. By the time I hit 60, he was at least 10 cars ahead of me. :p

you'll beat that subien in the twisties. tell him there not drag cars there made for twisties and take him to a nice curvey road and smoke his ass.

Do you honestly think you are going blow away a "subie" in the twisties?
Hum....

To all the intellegent people here that was not ment to be a Flame nor am I trying to be a troll.

Ill take that challenge.

Are you saying WRX's cant handle?

Think again.

And no, you cant beat a stock WRX.

yes you will blow a subie in the twisties. unless it's covered in dirt and snow and then maybe, you'll lose but on pavement they will lose. I know some of you think all wheel drive makes them better in the twisties but your wrong. the suspension and tires make them better. the only time awd helps is on loose gravell, and such.

Yes, many people automatically assume if it's AWD it can handle beautifully. Unfortunately, WRXs have extreme understeer.

Its not about assuming AWD is better although watch out for gravel and leaves on the twisty roads. There are better handling cars out there but my experience with the WRX and the MSP has always been with the WRX pulling away or right on the MSPs bumper (Touge style racing). You have to have the power to lay down on the road once you hit the apex...

I' am not flaming the subies they are great cars but awd is overated if your going 50 mphs in some dirt twisties your just as likely to slide across the dirt as any other car now if your going 20 mph and you hit that dirt and you don't slide the awd subie will woop your ass becaue all the wheels are pulling not just to. awd only helps where you need to take off forward motion not side ways motion. that's a fact.

Ok...I have to ask, and please don't assume I'm being an ass...

Have you driven the MSP? Especially one with proper power delivery? It's a completely different experience than any subaru that I've been in. The power is all midrange in the MSP, much like a Scooby, and the new torque curves should put us at or above what the wrx's dyno for torque in that range. It's a world of difference from the first PCM, lemme tell you. I can't get off the clutch fast enough now...the next gear just slides in. It's soo much better. And the torque steer that magazines were talking about...well...it's now felt in straight lines as well...quite a bit. I'm sure teh WRX would catch an MSP on the straights, but I honestly think the MSP could be on the gas faster and harder out of the turn.

Note...I love the WRX...it was on my list, but just out of my price range...oh well. I don't think I could have gone wrong either way!
