Anyone know of any twisties in North Jersey?

yea, around a light pole and back

Hey, I live in northern NJ too. Rt 516 (if I remember right) up by West Milford is a pretty good driving road with twisties and hill/valley turns that make for great fun.

My first post here on the board, got my 02 black mica P5 on the 16th and have been loving it since day one. Very easy to learn stick with and great in the twisties. Former 2g Eclipse GS owner here, car used to hang with GTs from a roll on the highway so I'm missing some of that top end, but the P5's got power from a dead stop. Didn't mean to hijack your thread but I'm sure I can remember/find some other good roads to drive on. Have fun and be careful.

(you may want to drive the road down at least once or twice to get the feel for it because it helps a lot on that road to judge speed/braking. if you go far enough down into town, there's a BK at the light incase you find yourself hungry ;) )

I just moved up north a bit and i'm kinda bored.
Hello, I think we met at the Wayne Mazda car show. You were with Abby von Normal.

Yes. You might try these:

1. Rt. 513 between I-80 and Rt.23
2. Take I-287 to the Ringwood exit and follow the signs for Skyline Drive. Skyline Drive is a great road-many twisties and steep up and downgrades. It runs between Oakland and Ringwood.
3. Orange County, NY. Take I-287 to Mahwah and get on Rt.17 N. Take Rt.17 past Tuxedo Park, NY and turn left on Rt.17A. Between this point and Rt.94, just south of Warwick, NY, 17A is one of the best twisties in the area. To extend the ride, turn south on Rt.94 until you reach Rt.1. Turn west on Rt.1 and take it to Westtown, NY. Turn south on Rt.284 and take that down to Sussex, NJ on Rt.23.

Not only are these great roads, they are also very scenic. These are all fun drives but if you get stuck behind someone it's a real drag because there are few opportunities to pass.

Everyone I know that loves to drive whether its cars or bikes and knows about this road loves it and says how much fun it is.

well i just got back from Skyline Drive, pretty niice. probably would've been better if i went faster, but there were cars in front of me. and the deer crossing signs didn't make me feel comfortable either.

definately some Initial D type stuff. i was getting a headache from the elevation changes. i didn't see any lights around the roads so it must be preeeeeetty dark at night. oh, and going downhill was the best part.

I live in West Milfrod and Skyline drive is part of my commute! Enigma, I'm gonna conference with some people and I'll get back to you if there's more fun roads around.

I met you at Wayne Mazda too. Welcome to North Jersey. There are lots of twisties up here especially in west milford. I enjoy a good run up and down Macopin Road but you gotta watch yourself on that one. Funny story..when I was 17 and driving a car that lives up to the name beater it stalled out on me gong down that road and locked up brakes and steering are quite an interesting mix on a road like that. I ended up skidding just off the road into a nice dirt patch with my heart in my throat. If it was just a little further down the road I would have been F-ed.

another good one is Rt. 23 north after kinnelon where it turns into 2 lanes. There are a few traffic lights but some spots where you can go quite fast in good turns. Have your radar detector turned on though and keep your eyes peeled for PoPos.

Have fun and Drive Carefully Dude.

Take 114 off the parkway if your going from south to north and make a right at the light go straight through the next light. If there are no cars on the road nice little set of turns for about a mile. Also very nice area around there. Used to go that way in my prelude when I needed to think. There are closer places now and I haven't gone there with my msp. Maybe I'll make the trip once for old times sake. Been needing to think a lot more lately again.
