Every unit I've ever been assigned to has had it's address & phone number on file with the public. There are "base locators" that help people find loved ones, friends, old buddies, etc. that are public knowledge. The unlawful dissemination of information is based on personal or private information including giving out date of births, marital status, driver license or social security numbers, etc. Everything else is public information. His home address, phone number, work address & phone number, etc. can be given out or found anywhere on the internet, yellow or white pages or by paying a service to locate that information. If someone from the board gets screwed by a stranger or another member, you better believe we are all going to try to help out as much as possible. Whether you believe this is right or wrong has nothing to do with PUBLIC information or the dissemination of such.

BTW, if a terrorist wants to get information on any base or unit in the U.S., the information is there for all to see. Hell, you can find out the population, number of law enforcement personell, time to get to the nearest highway, how to obtain hazardess material permits or anything else about the base or city it's located in. But all this aint gonna help if you cant even get on the base itself. lol

Lapis, he GAVE his information for all to see on here already. Go back a few pages. He put his unit name, home address, e-mail and phone number. So he did it himself.

If you didnt already know, I work in law enforcement and I was in the Marines for about 10 years. So I know a little something about what's private information and what is not. And everyone already knows what MY name is, where I work and where I live. It's no big secret. lol Then again, I didnt just run off with a few hundred dollars and say I'll get to shipping it whenever I feel like it; or if I do it at all. If it were you, you'd want some help too. And it's just a general phone number for the base, not a direct number to his 1st Sgt or grandmother or something.

Anyways i think Matthew is doing eveyone a favor by not letting this guy scam people.

but do u guys see my point i know matt doesnt! i dont think it fair for so many others to get involved! Calling him SGT or whatever wont make anything better and might not even get bones his money back if he loses his jobs!

But seriously, he wont lose his job. He may get written up... but serves him right. I'm sorry, but I think his supervisor has a right to know that he has no integrity. But thats just me. The last thing I need in my fighting hole is a guy that steals. I may wake up one day and find a box of ammo gone and has a big grin on his face. Scarry. lol
