Anyone know how to replace a wheel bearing?

it can be done but you need a press to press out the old bearing and press in the new. other then that it is pretty simple. I just took mine to my mechanic and it was like 1hrs labour.

yes its not that hard with the correct equipment as stated above. Just make sure you take your time and dont mess up the new bearings while your pressing them

the sound is unbearable! While your driving it sounds like you have huge mudding tires!!! Trust me you will know

OMGSH!!! i just had mine replaced.
It sounds like your wheel is gona fall off, and it shakes the WHOLE CAR!!! through the floorboard, and the steering wheel column was even shaking.
Paid Mazda 330 to get it replaced. FREAKN EXPENSIVE..

Am I missing something here? When I had to replace my passenger's side Rear bearing last year, Mazda sold me the whole hub, with the bearing already in it. Are they different for the front and rear? I paid about $130 for the part and $20 for a tire shop to put it in. I watched him do it and it took him less than 10 minutes. He took off the wheel, removed the center nut on the hub, took then entire hub/disc assembly out, swapped out the hub (the entire piece behind the brake disc, and put it all back together.
I originally tried to do it at home, but I didn't have the tools (broke my ratchet trying to loosen the hub nut).
You guys are talking about a bearing press. Is this only for the front then? Cause one wasn't needed on mine.

OR.....

Did I get ripped off in buying a hub when I only needed a bearing?
(was the parts guy bs-ing me?)

its easier to just get a whole hub.
a bearing costs $30 at checkers, but it takes more time than replacing the hub..

On the front the entire hub does not need to be replaced, only the bearing. On the rear, you cannot press out the bearing, so entire hub is replaced.
