i have under 18k miles on my ms protege 03.5. everytime i come to a rolling stop i hear a noise from my front wheels or axles. its is like a grinding noise, it only happens when i and laying on the brake lightley. the best way to describe the noise is when your braking on snow. its that grinding sound. its not too loud but noticable. i brought my car to my friends shop and he checked the brakes, rotors, tire air pressure, and everything to do with the front tires. he said everything was fine

just need all the advice i can get
thanks

I have about as many miles as you, and i hear that noise as well. I think its the brakes, but last time the dealer looked at everything, they said my pads were fine..so I dunno if its the rotors or something..

I have the same exact problem. My front brakes make a lot of noise when applying light pressure to stop at speeds of under ~20mph. Hard braking makes no noise, only soft braking.

Pads are fine, rotors still fine (still smooth, not warped)

It's definitely NOT the ABS. I know what that sounds and feels like.

I thought it might be brake dust/dirt/grime, etc...maybe I need to really clean the wheels/brakes and see if it still makes that noise...

i have the same problem... i going to post something in the tech section to see if the pros know anything.

hehe
it's the pad brackets that make that noise.

take them out and lubricate the inside with a heavy and thick synthetic lube.

took my orange to the dealer twice because of this.
took my titanium last week because of the same problem.

easily fixed yourself.

I had a slight noise from the front brakes before everything seemed fine when I checked it but I still lubricated the rear of the brake pads as they were not done from the factory. Honda does it to minimize vibration which causes brake pads to make noise at slow speeds.

Awesome. Any chance you can post detailed instructions? I've never touched my brakes before. I'm switching out my snow tires on Saturday, so I might as well take care of this then.

usually appears when it is humid outside.....or after a long drive.
OR if u drive for a long time, then let the car stand for 10 minutes, then drive again.

mine do same thing as well, i would like details also. But i also noticed if i clean my rims, and spray the breaks with rim cleaner, and then wash it off, it will go away for a few days, until car is dirty again.

yeah, it's the brake dust that does it.

if u noticed, it came after arround 2 months after u bought the car.

it's the brake dust building up.

i'll do it this weekend and take pics while i'm doing it.

It's not the pads I hade the same thing I took it to the dealer and they said that there was rust building in the midle on the disk they just had to clean it and it runs really nice and no more noise.

did it ever happened to any one to change the front suspension and coil springs in the front. I have about 6000Mil and THey have replaced my turbo already and my bushings like 4 times. and on top of all they have found that my manifold was cracked.

what do u mean in the middle of the disk?

I mean the disck for the brakes you where the bolts are it's around that area there was rust acomulating and it was rubing when you brake slow.

mine had that problem but lately my stering wheel start to vibrate so i taked to the dealer and they fixed.
