i found somethings like that in my cerial bowl once back in elementary school lol

having a passion for cars is a great one that i take a lot of pride in. only it is also a passion that can sometimes hurt.....i am thinking this is one of those times.

yeah those are pieces i picked up after blowing a hole in my engine....

And it wasn't my engine's fault either. The engine was strong, it was my tranny that blew my engine. Basically I pulled out to pass this little old lady doing 10 in a 50 zone, punched the gas, and the auto tranny downshifted into passing gear, my boost and rpm skyrocketed and the engine grenaded.

Yep, it hurt for about 15 minutes, but what can you do. New engine is already bought and arrives on tuesday, I should have her back on the road weds or thursday if I don't decide to wait for forged parts. Life goes on....

But maybe it's time to sell her and move on to a new project???

I'll post pictures of the block later when I go back to the shop. At first I couldn't find the hole, but we put a light in the engine bay, and there is a hole in the front of the block about the size of a small child. Apparently my car gave birth to an entire piston and rod

And JOKA1 (rob) if you are reading this....

"This is how you blow your engine, not that half assed clunking thing you had going on" (first)

Oh, and if anyone knows... the new engine I bought is a JSPEC 2.0l Think there's really any differences I should worry about?

High compression with the jspec FS. FSZE. sucks about the engine. so what RPM did it jump up to after it down shifted? any slippage of the tranny? i'm guessing you don't have tipronic

Oh s***, that's no good, well I haven't paid them yet, they are closed till monday, so I guess I can always back out and pick up the engine I found in winnipeg.

RPM jumped to just over 7grand. No slippage of the tranny

yeah stick with the US spec. I think the exhaust cam is also different in the FSZE too. but you could jsut buy the cams. I'm just curious of your setup. I think i remember seeing you had upgraded valve bodies for the tranny. The engine was stock? How much boost do you think it was pushing when it blew?

Automatic???!?!?

Edit:
Hey dude kick ass web site. I went through it, very cool. I liked your other chrome wheels. Killer interior also....automatic?

I have another engine I found that's US spec, but its an extra 1 or 2 days to get to me. So I guess I may have to wait till friday or the week after to get back on the road. There was nothing wrong with the engine, it was forged. Just when the tranny downshifted, the rpm spiked horribly. Troy said about 7800rpm. Boost was on the happy side of 20psi.

yeah piranas old p5 was an auto too....sounds not so fun but he enjoyed raping cars while sipping on his slushy.

i had an turbo automatic as well. i didn't boost the hell out of it tho. Bigwoofer, what is the boost your normally run at? man i gotta make sure to not overrev

I hate hearing this stuff right before I intall the turbo on my auto P5...
But I will remember not to do that with mine.
Did the insurance cover any of it?

It's not my fault, it's my dads. "I learned it from watching you!" lol

It's been drilled into my head for over 25 years.
Automatic = chick shifting.

That yellow P5 is sweet though. I like the painted interior bits. It look as though they were done professionally.
