Supposed to be at Fed Ex Field in Landover, MD this weekend. I'm gonna go, wanted to know if anyone else was going in the MD/DC/VA area too.

The link for info is: www.mazdarevitup.com

Has anyone just gone to these things? I mean w/o signing up? Don't think my stock bebe will do much in the competition area! :D

I'm considering riding up on sunday with a coworker who signed up a while ago. can't pass up a ride in his porsche.

Hey, I wouldn't either! I was going to go out and find a dealership that has an RX-8 this weekend anyway and then I heard about Rev It Up on the radio and decided to do that instead. I'm heading up there on Saturday though. I checked out the site and they have a lot to do even if you don't sign up to compete - which I'd LOVE to do but the bank ain't kickin' for $80 for me and my hubby to do it. Being broke sux! But I'll be there anyway, test driving all that I can and drooling over the RX-8s! :D

Ack! I just found out someone here in our building has an RX-8! Apparently he had it up here yesterday and I missed it! Grrrr....

You don't drive your own car in the event, you drive a Mazda 6. I went to two of them, 1st in Houston and 2nd in Dallas. It was so much fun, and being able to really push the car and take chances you wouldn't in your own is well worth it.

If you go and don't compete it will probably get old quick cause all you can do is the test drives in the Miata, Speed, 6 and Pro5 they have there. Still fun, but they don't like you to go over 2nd gear in the test drives. Competeing is really what it's all about and you get to do practice runs and brake and cornering drills.

And in case you're wondering the course was different from Houston to Dallas. Same types of corners straights etc, but placed in different order, and the track direction was different. I thought I'd do better in Dallas, but actually did better the first time in Houston.

if you go to the racing section of this forum you can see results from other members. I'm currently sitting in 10th place - Jason

i'm planning to go on saturday :)

i already competed in the Philly one last week, so i'm just there to test drive the MPV lol :D

Welp, as the checkbook reports - no $$$ for competition!!! Oh well, I guess I'll just go and make the best of it! My goal this weekend was to sit in an RX8 anyway, so that will be enough rush for me! :D

ZoomZoomH- you were at the MJM right? I probably met you but don't remember your name. What's your name again?

He is Hank with the Blue Protege.

I was going to go but stuck doing other things with the G'Friend on Saturday, couldn't get out of work today and going to the Spool Open house on Sunday.

take pics!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

yes I am Hank, I'm either showing up in my blue Protege or my blue RX-7 :D

eh, I saw you at MJM phishy, but I forgot your name as well :D :p

what's your name???

You are ALL wrong!!!

J/K! :D Thanks for the compliment Lisa - back at ya! :D

Actually my name is Shana (pronounced like Shawna) but you had it close, Hank, Sarah is one of my friends who came w/me to the meet along w/her fiance Sean.

Well, I hope to see lots of P5s at RIU tomorrow! I'll have my bebe there in stellar form! :D

SOOOOOOO Close. 0.4 secs away from winning and going to Laguna Seca!!!!!!!!!!!!

:(

Ended up running a 29.9 and scored 668. The pro driver's time was 28.8 and the time to beat was a 29.5! Maybe I should make a trip up to NYC next week!!! :D

I went on sunday expecting to spectate (my friend signed up in april) but walked right in and signed up. It was fun but disappointing. Wait in line for 45 min, 15seconds in the car, comment from pro who barely watched, park, get in different line, repeat. The redeamer : RX-8s open to explore (but not drive). wish I had taken some more pictures. wasn't real practical carrying my camera around all day while driving, so I didn't get racing pictures. Of the driving, the most fun had to be the gocarts. expensive, but got 10 times the driving time. If they have this next year, I'm going to try it again.

Further proof I've never done this before: pro driver time 28s, average 32-36s, mine 40 and 46s (heavy understeering took out ~5cones first run at 2s a cone) Two laps an hour apart on an unknown track in an unknown car makes good times impossible for me. practice definetly makes perfect, and I'd like to think more track time would prove it.
