Anyone from MSCAI to COBB SRI notice..

I swapped out my MSCAI for the COBB(SRI) recently and i was wondering if anyone has seen a change in there WB readings. I noticed that the COBB peice actually ran the car a little leaner during relaxed driving. With the MSCAI AFR#'s hung around 14.7-14.8, now im getting some 15's and even 16's during relaxed driving and while making boost the AFR#'s are .3-.4 higher.

I am aware that the MS intake doesnt have the airflow straighten at all, that said more then likely the MS was throwing the numbers off.
Any Feedback??

btw...what made you do the switch? did you throw a lean code on the MSCAI, or are you just getting ready for the AP? =d

Honest a few things mainly curiosity. I wanted to actually see the difference between the two. Second was that is easy to get at the filter to clean (lazy I know) and third I wasnt sure how the AP would react with the MSCAI. I didnt want to see lean conditions with an AP and then not be able to pick up a Cobb SRI due to back order.

I do notice that the IAT from the (dash hawk) runs about 25 deg higher under cruising conditions with the SRI and its obvious why. I just wanted to throw that out there incase someone wanted a #

wait...25 degrees when you're cruising around? we're talking like 30+mph, right?

oh, and how's the cobb feel compared to the ms cai so far?

When you unplugged the battery, you left it off for at least ten minutes and also pumped the brake? I was at the dealership the other day because of a flat tire and was talking to a tech there. He suggested to do this...is that right?

30-40 mph Yeah about 25 more like 20-25 AAT@35 IAT@ 59-63 also heat soaks like crazy if you park and turn the car off for just like 3 min and you start it again the temps shoot up until you get moving again for obvious reasons though. I did not notice any difference in performance car still pulls hard the only thing that makes me realize thats its changed is the sound (louder). My ATP inlet will be here tomorrow i am expecting that to make a difference.

i don't know about 10 min. the main thing is that you want to drain all the capacitors which may still be holding charge, and that's actually really easy to do if you just leave your key turned in the ignition with the radio on when you unplug the battery...as soon as the radio dies, you're golden...:D oh, and there's a much more surefire way of doing this involving removing a specific fuse in the fuse box, but i forget which one it was...

Yeah i think they suggest pump it like 5x to deplete the stored charge in the system.

hrrm...this really makes me wonder where the IAT takes its temp reading. since it doesn't seem to make a difference as far as actual performance, i'm willing to bet that it's actually sitting in the engine bay somewhere and not inside the intake manifold...=/

I did the same swap because of the standback and lean codes. I did notice the ms one going into the 16's as well but haven't driven to much since my cobb and fmic to see what this one does. The iat sensor is in the maf sensor. There is also a secondary boost temp sensor I think in the map.

Do you have the MSCAI? If you look at the section just after the MAF on the down tube there is a weird sensor looking thing thats bolted to the CAI its got caution hot stickers all over it and Japanese marks all over it (yes I have touched it and YES its hot lol). It took me a second to actually remember where it went stock (dont think its the IAT but it sits on the driver side in front of the batt tray). I meant to take a look in the workshop manual to see what it was but forgot.

whoa...i wouldn't have expected a 25 degree difference when cruising around...

it seems like as the temps get warmer the difference gets a little smaller (weird i know) this morning over here in NY it was like 52 deg and the IAT at 50mph was hanging out at 65deg... On my way home I will Log the IAT and AAT using the DH

so you were actually getting IAT = ambient when you had the MS CAI?
