Anyone fine tune there shifter and tune out a second gear grind?

You know more about your car than they do, NO JOKE. They want to change it and charge you $100 to do something that is easier than changing your oil. They can not void your warranty for changing a fluid to another approved fluid. If they told me such BS I would never let them touch my car. No dealer will ever touch my car unless it's for warranty work.

I can't see Mazda being able to void your warranty for an oil change as long as the oil meets Mazda specs. Ask the specific reason why.

you'd need to change out the synchros to fix the 2nd gear grind.

2nd gear is under-synchro'd in this transmission.

I kow its on a MS3 but I just put syncromesh in the MSP and my 2nd to 3rd gear slight grind but not really during cold shifts went away. Ive already put 200 miles on it in the past day and I wish I had done it sooner.

Me too. I think it's people who lives in colder climate like in winter are the ones with first to second problem.

I am in Michigan, it gets pretty cold here. I know a couple people have complained about the shifting enough and have gotten syn trans fluid under warranty... Sounds like the dealership is scamming again. Oddly cutting themselves out of work.

I wont ever let them crack the tranny,...I had an 08 Civic SI that was doing the exact same thing. They replaced second gear. ******* up third and not fixing second. Replaced second and third. Still not fixed. Finally they replaced the transmission. I owned the car for 58 days. They had it for 28.

Obviously if second gear goes thats one thing, but until then.....

actually they can void the warranty very easily like that
i have a teacher who used to work for BMW, a car came in with a blown up engine and it was under warranty, so they checked everything to make sure it was actually under warranty
they sent the oil out of the engine to a lab and it came back the wrong weight
they voided the warranty and the dude had to pay out of pocket, but they also hooked up to his PCM and saw that he was going 110mph at the time it blew up lol

but if u call and have them sign a contract of sorts saying that the fluid ur using is approved by MAZDA not by the dealership, then u should be fine

From the day I test drove my car, it was always notchy getting into 1st and shifting to 2nd (especially in the winter). I followed the recommendation in the video and moved the linkage about 1 tooth. No BS, a huge improvement for my car for only what seemed to be a minor adjustment. Getting into 1st is much smoother (no more going to 3rd by mistake) and the shift to 2nd is way less notchy, not perfect, but much better.

You are not the first person I know or have heard from that has had that issue with their Civic si...

Sorry, but no way are they going to tell me I have the wrong fluid in my trans and my warranty is voided, that is just simply not going to happen. I would bet the car that my dealership agrees about the problem (whatever it may be) and orders me a new one and I have the car back within a couple weeks and have a free rental in the meantime, regardless of my trans fluid. BMW going that far is crazy. There has got to be a lot more to that story than is being told. Like, he bought the car 55k miles ago and they have not seen it in for service since and there is evidence of foul play in some form or another. My best friend is on his 4th BMW in 8 years and they literally kiss is ass. They come get his car from his work and take it to have the service done and return it to him detailed...
