Anyone experienced mazda cx 5 smart city brake ?

For those that have tried this I can't figure out how to make it work
...
Anyone have any thoughts?

I still have the box and can try again
If I remember correctly, the sensors work by bouncing an infrared beam. It's possible that your brown boxes are absorbing the sensor instead of reflecting it.

As a guess, try covering the boxes with aluminum foil? (It's just an educated guess...)

I haven't had the brakes apply but when I was coming up on a left turn but cars in the left lane(not the left turn lane) was backed up, so I pulled up GTs & went into the left turn lane as late as possible to avoid the rippled concrete.
It beeped as I pulled up to the last car but I'm pretty sure I was going to fast(+30mph) for it to stop in time.

Per the manual, a large cardboard box isn't big enough. It wont detect a pedestrian, a bicyclist, or a pole it is looking for broad wide things like cars or hedges. That Top Gear clip is not accurate. It didn't stop for Jezza, it stopped for the hedge. If that hedge wasn't there, James May would have clipped him.

My laser detection always goes off on my radar detector so I thought there was something with this suggestion.
I lined the outside of the box with Aluminum Foil and tried again
This time it did work!

I bet you if someone was watching from across the street would have quite the chuckle, especially on the previous tests.

For me it kicked on once when i was inpatient waiting for the garage door to open... scared me to say the least.

Yeah I kinda looked around the neighborhood to make sure no one was looking before I did the test

As for being scared when it kicks on...
It is a pretty sudden stop (brakes are essentially slammed on), if you notice you can see me bouncing around ready good

I unexpectedly experienced it when I came upon a toll booth and thought the gate would go up sooner than it did and the brakes suddenly engaged. Surprised the $hit out of me before I realized what had just happened.
