i get an egr cel every so often, planned on resetting it before i go for emissions.

my question is has anyone ever actually passed smog if they put you on the rollers.
2nd thing is with my rsx type-s, they didnt even do that, they just hooked the scan tool up to it.

so im not sure if that thing just checks for cel's or actually monitors the catalyst and emissions equipment.

either way, theres a good chance they might not put me on the rollers and do the same thing they did w the rsx. so this is a 2part question i guess. if i reset the cel before i go will i be good? and has anyone ever tried to get an fs-ze through emissions before and had to go on the rollers? what was the outcome.

If you reset your cel do you do it through a scanner or pull the battery cables? Honestly there is no way that a mechanic could tell a difference between the motors.

If you clear the code with a scanner you should be ok just make sure you drive it a lil bit to make sure it goes through all the readiness stuff. If they do a sniffer as long as your cat is good you should be fine

i usually just pull the battery cable for 10 minutes since i dont work in a shop anymore, no scanner.
usually takes a day or two for any codes to come back.

You won't pass like that because it's not going through all the readiness stuff which will come up when they hook it up to their computer

Idk, I'm in the same boat as you. So far, I've reverted back to the DE intake and exhaust mani, and hooked the EGR back up, replaced the o2 sensors, and the only "ready" I'm getting is for the o2 heater. I'm gonna try a couple different drive cycles and see if i can't get any results.

egr insufficient flow(im using gas line as egr tube but the egr could be bad i guess.) never really cared.

So fix it? Give it a good clean and put it back on and see if you still get the cel. Egrs cost a pittance to replace, could also be due to running the wrong ecu...

I dont wanna fix it id rather delete the egr. Most retarded emissions component ever used on a car

Im confused. Do you want to fix the CEL or not?

Actually even cleaning and replacing maynot fix the issue as your not running the right ECU.
