Anyone else TIRED of ****** *DIBS*!?!

if i call dibs on an item i blantly say if i have the money for it and if they need to sell to someone else then so be it. oh well my loss for not having money, i am always straight up with dibs though. i think it depends on the person selling though. and sometimes people call dibs because you have interest in the product and wouldnt want the vendor selling it to someone who say it 2 days after you did. well like in life dibs has its pros and cons.
i call dibs for a few reasons:
1. because it's pending proper pics and/or info to sell- but i know i want it after description.
2. because i am the 2nd or 3rd person, and i want to get the item of those people in front of me drop out.
3. you can't sign a letter of intent to buy on the forums.

I am actually working on your pod and others between posting here...I have gone through a few different design Ideas and have run into one or so setbacks but all is well!
I am also playing with few new Glues and epoxies I have picked up over the last week.I am trying to find new things that allow me to put this stuff togther in a quicker fashion.I have found some really good stuff and I am in the process of testing it all out tonight...

thanks Matt... and i think alot of disagreement is going to stem from the opinions of buyers vs. sellers. see, i'm a buyer. i haven't sold on the forums. but i buy up a hell of alot of things. so that being said, of course Matt (forcefed) would have a few different opinions on this subject, because Matt sells stuff on the forums...
so buyers... imagine yourselves in the sellers shoes for a minute. see what they have to deal with when people calls dibs then back out, and others lose interest in the thread becuase the item they wanted already had dibs called... this can make it harder for the seller to unload the item.

most of the "dibs" i see being called is due to a seller not having pictures up, or not having a very good description of the item, or not posting a price, or something stupid on the SELLERS end of the deal, i'm sorry but i am not going to commit to the sale of something until i know 100% what i'm getting, that is just STUPID, hence why DIBS are an essential part of online dealing, until i know exactly what i'm getting i am not going to commit myself 100%, but if i am still interested in the item i am also not going to sit there for XX amount of hrs/days until the seller gets back with an update before i send them the money...
not to mention, who cares? if the seller wants to allow people calling dibs, SO BE IT, if not, GREAT, who the **** are you guys to dictate to other people how they can and cannot sell THEIR property? i also think that if a seller has no intent of honoring someone who calls dibs, they should CLEARLY state that they have no intentions of doing so, so there will be no confusion, but aside from that it is kind of ludicrous to set regulations as to how you MUST sell your property...

No one is trying to dictate how people should get rid of their own stuff...just doesn't make sense on some things...I can see if something has not been shown in a pic...of course ,then you would want to wait to see the item.JHew84 said:

well i'd honestly like to see some of the threads you are talking about, because the only ones i see where people are calling dibs are the ones with extenuating circumstances in regards to the things i listed and maybe a few others, aside from maybe the "first dibs can pay whenever you want" comments, which personally i take as more of a "lemme know where to send the money" comment than a "i dont have the money but i want it anyway" comment...
regardless, i dont think "dibs" is a bad thing, and it really is the option of the seller to decide what direction the for sale thread will go in, so saying "i'm sick of this, we should stop it" is kind of pointless, since it is a choice matter, not a rule that needs to be revised matter...
no offense, but this entire thread does just kind of sound like a few people got dicked out of deals they were interested in because someone beat them to it and called dibs, and now they want to b**** about it, i really see no point aside from that, but again, no offense intended, i b**** just as loudly as the rest of'em
