Just wondering if any of you have had a dealer fix the hesitation at 3000-4000 rpms in 4 or 5th gear besides changing out the intake system ?

I took mine to the dealer and they blamed turbo lag...yah right...stumbles as it is coming up to boost...they checked no computer upgrade and basically said they can do nothing until a upgrade comes out. I dropped in a K&N drop in filter and it helps a bit but not totally.

My passanger front disc has scoring marks on it but feels smooth...they will not replace that either since nothing is " broken " , checked no siezed calipers bad pads etc...they blame it on differences in materials on the discs...does not explain why one side is smooth and the other side looks like it has been driven for 5 years....just looks like it. Complained to mazda no help there...going up the food chain at Mazda today.

I'll let you know what I find out next week...my car is going in on Monday for the hesitation thing. Mine has gotten more noticable, if not worse...2nd gear is horrible, it feels like I'm stepping on the brake while accelerating...and 3rd - 5th, i'm noticing it, but it's not too bad.

Hey OrangeAppeal,

I notice w/ mine that it's REALLY pronounced when the turbo is spooling up to full boost? then when it hits, it smooths out tremendously.

2nd gear goes from 2K to 4K rrrRRrRRrrrrrrRRrRRrrrRr (then 4k&up) RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRROOOMMM!

(just like that :D)

Part number...hell of a time getting it in...Cdn tire did not have it...I ordered from the USA for about 30 bucks

Mine doesn't smooth out till about 5.5k rpm in second gear. Once I hit 5.5k it feels like vtec kicked in or something (I know it's a protege motor and there is no vtec, but that's what it feels like). It is a very noticable difference....kinda like someone bumped me from behind and the car goes like a bat outa hell to redline.

not pleased with this feature at all right now...but don't get me wrong, I love the car and don't regret my purchase in any way.

To me it really sounds like a turbo breathing problem (like it has asthma)

The turbo has some type of turbulence and then when enough air velocity is going thru, the air stabilizes and smooths out making that "vtech" feel..

This is my opinion only, but it kinda feels like the turbo is choking somewhat and causing the surge and stumble in the engines

Thats what i believe but will have to wait and see with the new intake coming out hopefully will correct this issue

Sounds like theres a kink in the boost line, like when you step on a hose then take your foot off of it. If you get what I'm saying.

It's ecu and flow related. Heres something to try....i did this yesterday.

Run 1st and 2nd gear hard... go into 4th gear and turn on the A/C for about 15 seconds, floor it in 4th till you hit 5psi and then let off and shut the a/c off.

Shift into 5th gear going about 60mph, floor it in 5th gear. The car should go into open loop at anything above 0vacuum now. In fact, it goes into really really open loop, VERY rich.. At 7psi it doesn't feel to great but it really screams at 10psi with that mode enabled.

Give it a shot and let me know if it works for you, it's worked a few times for me.

hehehe

up,up,down,down,left,right,left,right,a,b,a,b start!

j/k braden, I will try it (but I don't have the MBC or anything. I"m totally stock, so that won't do me too much good, eh?)

Its definitely something related to that sorry ass fuel map! I have a cure and it goes by the name of Haltech F9. I just experienced the worst stumbling drive ever! My BOV is sounding a bit louder also. Ill tell you what, If they dont get this s*** map corrected I will go to a stand alone management system once my warranty is up. Ive already have 2631 miles in less then a month, at this rate my warranty will be up in 2 years.

TWO YEARS OF NUT STUMBLING ACTION TO GO!

I think if we all contact MAZDA via the www.mazdausa.com website we can attract alot of attention on our MSP's I am filling out the contact e-mail to them right now and telling them of this issue and can get names and vin# of people with this issue. I think every MSP owner that is on here has experienced this issue of hesitation. We all need to contact MAZDA corporation. Hopefully they can come out with a recall or something to fix this issue..

Lets do it individually but reference each other in the emails to mazda. Don't rely on anyone else to email for you, everybody (POLITELY please!) email Mazda on this issue and perhaps a resolution can be reached.

Remember, the more professionally written your email, the more likely it'll be acted upon by The Big Corporation.

I'm emailing them now.

I have put this forum address on the e-mail I will be sending them hopefully they will check it out.

have your vin # ready when your contact them via e-mail.

Ihave mine at home so will send it this evening to MAZDA with my complaint..

How many SPEED owners have this problem. Aaron has an idea on how to question this unrefined Mazda ECU tuning. We can use this post as a point of reference to Mazda.
