Any info of the 5Zigen would be appreciated I've searched the site but there is limited info.

Type of info I'm looking for fitment, sound, performance gains, approximate weight, installed pics.

Slamprotege5,

how is the magnaflow? I have Mazdaspeed axel back right now and I am getting irritated with how it sounds. I travel on the high way and cant stand the sound anymore. thinking of going back to stock..................

let me know your opinions on the magnaflow

Yeah thats where I found out about it, but there is very limited info there. I generally like to get the opinion of someone who has it and is not trying to sell me something, before I buy it.

If I call they'll likely just regurgitate the info thats on their site.

This is the info from their site, I don't really need some CSR telling 'well it produce gains of 10-12HP' because thats what is on their computer screen.

I have a Magnaflow "racing series" universal (louder straight-through design) and it really isn't that loud to me. There are many styles available if you look on their website. They also make a "street series" in many of the same styles, and it is supposed to be significantly quieter. I'm guessing it wouldn't be much louder than stock.

Nate i like your muffler. It almost looks like a stock IS300 or Eclipse muffler. Very nice, how does it sound? loud?

No I don't think it's loud at all, but you can always hear it. It has a very nice tone, cause it mostly just lets the low-frequencies through. It is loudest between 3k and 4k, and the sound drops off above that (and my intake is louder above 4k anyway). Combined with the intake I think my car sounds great. Love the sounds!

It's just the muffler. I had the shop weld on a new section with a flange that bolts up at the axle, so I could swap the stock one back on if I needed to.

edit: so it's basically a custom axle-back

Magnaflow is not loud at all. It definetly is not as loud as the Mazdaspeed version. When I first had my Magnaflow installed it sounded the same as factory til about 4500 rpms, so I went back and removed the resonator pipe, and it sounds nice now:)
I paid $150 installed at just a local muffler shop.

I never had a chance to clean the muffler
completely but both the muffler and the pre muffler have a mirror
finish. The part number for the Magnaflow muffler is 14829. The pre
muffler is number 14415. The exhaust was cut off at the hangers
after the first catalytic converter. I left it sticking out about 1
inch or so you can read the MAGNAFLOW PERFORMANCE etched into the
top of the tip. In the car you hear a slight low tone when coasting
down through the rpm range. Cruising speed you don't hear it unless
you stomp on it. The buzzing / revving noise from the engine at
cruising speed is gone. It sounds nice only hearing the low deep
tone of the AEM intake when accelerating. I will get some sound
clips of the muffler and my AEM intake as soon as possible.
