Any way to quiet down the exhaust drone?

and the resonators on our car are pretty much just straight through free flowing so honestly i dont see why it would decrease performance at all but they do make the exhaust tone A LOT quiter trust me ive chopped up and welded my exhaust twice haha

hey lou, I'm going to be bringing my car sometime this week to get 2 resonators chopped off. I'm trying to go for the growliest sound without deleting any cars but I was wondering which resonators I should remove. Should I get rid of the cylindrical resonator closest to the tip and the oval muffler right before the tip? Or should I just remove both the cylindrical resonators and leave the oval one? Or hell, how does it sound with all THREE removed? (And should there be any performance lost? my first FI so not too schooled on backpressure and what not with these cars)

I find the drone most annoying at 3k rpms on trailing throttle. The rest I can live with but off the throttle down hill it's quite loud.

I find all cars to be this way....if the injectors shut off during this period, what is making all the noise? If there is no combustion, just the engine compression slowing the car down...what gives?

I guess I will have to put it in neutral when off throttle to get rid of the drone for now.

I have the same problem with the noise.
I just keep a very very light pressure on the pedal.
Basically just enough to keep the pedal off the idle stop.
Used to do this a lot, but I am getting more used to the drone, or my exhaust is getting more internal soot buildup to drown the noise a little. Either way it doesnt bother me as much now.

i know the drone you are all talking about, but it doesnt really bother me at all.

wonder if it has anything to do with having driven cars with leaks in the pipes for the last 5 years... i'd hate to think what you guys would have thought of my celica when the muffler strap broke and half of my catback fell off (lol2)

honestly man just chop off the 2nd cat and get a catless DP or a catted DP it will be cleaner sound after i had my 2nd cat and 2 resonators after a while it was just to much the resonators keep the exhaust tone clean
