Any photographers in here?

Yea its hard, I mean they both have great reviews and it seems the people telling you to get the Nikon are Nikon people and Same for the Sony so its hard, It does seem the Nikon is the better choice and Best Buy near me has the D3100 with 18-55 vr and 55-200VR with bag for 780!

I think thats a go...

Yea I just talked to them, they have it in stock and are going to hold it for me for 24hrs! Pick up tomorrow am after work!

Good stuff man. Congrats. And post pics as much as you can. Here, and other forums etc to get critiqued. And don't get discouraged.

Flippy,

For less than the BB price, you might as well get a free printer and UV filter.

Amazon has a great deal on a Nikon D3100 Bundle. After adding items below + applying coupon code 94PMXQUU and a $400 mail-in rebate, price is $705.54 + free shipping.

* Nikon D3100 14.2MP Digital SLR Camera with 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 AF-S DX VR Nikkor Zoom Lens
* Nikon 55-200mm f/4-5.6G ED IF AF-S DX VR [Vibration Reduction] Nikkor Zoom Lens
* Epson Stylus Photo R1900 Large Format Photo Printer
* Tiffen 52mm UV Protection Filter

Note, to qualify for the printer rebate, make sure all items have been purchased directly Amazon and not third party sellers.

Thought I would post up some pictures I took last week while in Mexico. All pics were taken with my Coolpix S610... so don't expect professional results. Your thoughts?

I personally love how the last one turned out. Also, the last 2 sunset pics were taken within a minute of each other. I just find it amazing how a different setting will make the world of difference.

I have a nikon 70-300 vr, a 50mm f1.8 and a circular polarization filter on the way and I'll borrow a Sigma 10-20 from my father on my trip in March.

I think I should be set for the trip, now time will tell how I'll handle a SLR

Got my D3100 today!! Ordering the 55-300 VR as we speak! also bought circular polerizer and UV filter.....Now its all charged up and I am going to bed. Pics pics pic tomorrow!

Also just realized for 20 bucks more than I paid for my camera, I can get the Bundle from BB and get a 55-200 VR and new camera bag......i am going back! I will have the 55-300 VR by the time LRP comes! Also hopefully some more lenses by then....Def want a good Fish eye, that will have to wait for summer I think tho!

Here are a couple sample shots with the new Cam! Def love this thing! Going to use it a lot today! UV Filter is on for all of these.
NO PP on any of these
