I have never set it and I took a few pictures and I liked the outcome so I left it.

Also, The lights Kind of add to the effect they were a real yellow color. I think it was mostly the lights out put more than anything cause thats what it looked like in person when the car was parked there, but then again im still learning to use my camera.

The camera is always going to take a photo of the scene the way that it looked unless you mess with the white balance. The reason to correct for the white balance after is because, while it might look cool to you, to the rest of us, it just looks like a yellow picture of a silver speed6.

we had this discussion about a pic I shot a few months ago... lemme see if I can find the demo pic.

Your white balance is off.

So, i would adjust the white balance to take the yellow look out of it even though that is the way it looked in person?

if you want it to be a better pic, the general consensus is yes.

Sometimes breaking rules that that ends up with a neat effect, but a lot of times it just ends up looking like a lower quality pic.

I must have been under the wrong impression then. I thought it was to capture the car in its surroundings, and in this case the lights gave off a yellow effect so I went with it. Lol you all are too technical everyone else I have shown loves it.

But thanks for the criticism. Its always useful.

Yeah, I'm still not a true photographer... because I wouldn't disagree.

I guess there are 2 schools:

1) Capturing what is there and displaying it as accurately as possible.

2) Capturing whats there and displaying it as well as possible.

Nice church shots! I was wondering what lens does everyone seem to use the most. I have 3 lenses, and I really seem to stick with my 35mm fixed for general walking around. I defiantly use my telezoom and kit zoom, but they don't normally live on my camera like the 35 does.

you showed us your photo and asked us what we thought... don't get all bent out of shape because we expect more from a photo than most people...

It's a learning experience... We're all here to get better.
