Lit from behind using a torchiere (floor standing lamp) or whatever they're called. Destaurated and other adjustments made during RAW conversion. No PhotoShop except for USM and resizing.

Same lighting but with faster shutter and a snooted flash.

Thanks, MP3Architect! I love my micro-Nikkor lens. Getting that close made the front of the lens touch the paper so I had to be careful not to put strain on the focus mechanism while focusing.

I love having a flash that uses Nikon's "balanced fill" because it does things I wouldn't have expected when it calculate compensation. I just ordered an RF remote flash trigger system from eBay. I can't wait for it to arrive. I'm also going to pick up an IR shutter remote so I don't have to be within arms reach all the time.

LOL, I just started a thread last night in my local forum not knowing this forum was here. Opps.

Anyways, as I stated in that thread, I just got a Powershot G5 as a step up from a Sony Cybershot Point & Shoot. Here are some of my "learning how to use manual settings" pics after some pointers from a friend who's into Photography.

Thanks for looking!

We had our Pre-Drywall inspection today at our house this morning, and I took alot of pics, mostly for reference for later on, but I did try and get a few cool shots.

I took 3 shots from the loft looking down to the front door. . .various focal points: I think I like the 3rd one the best. And I really like how the heater pics turned out too. . .

I have more, but they really don't belong in this thread. When I was there in 2005, I was really just taking in the sights, and wasn't concentrating on taking great pictures.

Your pictures kick much ass!

Here are a few pics of me working on a recent trip to Ecuador. These were taken by a professional photographer. I'm the audio guy.

I call this one my Forrest Gump pose...

The other pic I didn't submit in the photo contest:
Yuengling-DSC_8399-01-01.jpg

The picture looks a little over sharpened and noisy. I bumped the ISO so I could take multiple frames on a single full charge of the flash. I also opened the aperture for the same reason which made for a very shallow DoF.

Quick pic from last night:

I like this composition but I wish I had a little more light on the top left portion of the bud. I could lighten in PS but I'll probably just shoot more pics with a small reflector in on the shadow side. For some reason the yellow got blown out in these pics. I may have to adjust color temp or gel the flash to bring out detail in the yellow portion of the bud. In this pic I desaturated yellow some, but I want to eventually be able to identify and fix that kind of problem during the shoot.

i am definately not a photographer, but i like taking pictures. I am sure none of mine are even worthy of this thread, but what the hell.

D200? (rei)

yes sir... =)

like i siad, new one comes in thursday... right now it has a problem when shooting at maximum aperture... (aperture activiation thingy, also linked to the depth of field preview, gets stuck after just one shot at wide open aperture and stay at about 2 stops down or fully closed!) so its been someone obsulete to me, cause i mostly shoot low light stuff....

i can't wait for one that works.

I just bought Tein coilerovers (in dire need of new struts) instead of the Nikon camera I really want.

I took this pic the other day with my sony DSC-T33. Came out quite well. Only photoshop done is creating the border.

Great pic, but while you're in PS do you think you could make the horizon level? Its really pretty distracting.
