Any photographers in here?

Anyone shooting video with their dSLRs? I'm thinking about picking up a mic.

Ya..I use a Sennheiser MK400 mic that sits on the hotshoe. More popular model would be the Rhode shotgun mic but it's just massive. LOL. I also have a Zoom H4N digital sound recorder that I hook up to a PA system or a sounboard to get clear signals from.

yep, orchids are very delicate. They actually get most of the water that they need out of the air. My wife had an orchid but we killed it with too much water. Another tip: don't cut off stuff that looks dead or dying. Wait until it is crunchy and completely dead or you could kill the rest of the plant.

They also don't bloom very often. Lots of work for not that much payoff. They are very nice when they're in bloom though.

thanks for the tip. i started reading on care for them after i bought it. they do sound very delicate. i'm not sure the plant will live long during MI winter with the house being kept at 62* and very low humidity. it looks nice now and should last longer than if i got her a dozen roses, cheaper too...

Orchids also have to go through a pruning and a winter before blooming again. You can them in the fridge for a minimum of 30days, this can simulate a winter, I've had mine for over 3 years now

I definitely want something to record the audio using my 60D, I don't really want to have to sync it up later. I actually was looking at the two you mentioned. The Rode did look huge but I had no frame of reference to be able to tell if that would be a problem or not.

This is the Rode

I like the Sennheiser for the size. The quality is about the same as well. Plus, I have a gain switch so if I'm standing right beside a speaker or close to a loud audio source, I can turn it down. Also has a metal body, compared to the Rode's plastic. And it uses AAA batteries which you can buy anywhere. I think the Rode uses something different.

I bought the Senn because I have a video rig and camera cage. the Sennheiser was easier to fit inside it.

Looking at them on the camera is crazy! Plus those things you listed Funky didn't exactly paint a nice picture for the Rode.

I just recently gained interest in photography. These are a couple of the pics I have taken. I have been more trying to learn the different settings on my camera than obtaining the "perfect" picture if that makes any sense. lol Here are a few of what I have taken.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated :)

I'm tempted to put it on my t2i, but I record the sound separately usually anyway. I'll definitely keep it in mind.
